Loved it..

Everyone in this hostel was very helpful and kind to us. I am vegetarian and lots of options were provided for me, including: vegan ham, burgers, falafel, veggies, rice, pasta, rice milk. Breakfasts are homemade with salty and sweet options. 

The hostel has very "home" atmosphere wich is also very nice.

Good people and nice food

This hostel is very basic. The room is supposed to sleep 4 people but very fitted. The air conditioner didn't work, the weather was very hot at the end of June, so it was oppressively hot in the room. The shower was small, the toilet was empty. The bed was fine, but in general this is a very basic hostel with expensive rates like We pay extra for the breakfast, which was nice and good quality-price ratio, and contundent.

Good atmosphere. Helpful staff. In the middle of the centre, really great location. Would definitely recommend this place.I stayed at this hostel for 2 nights. From the moment I came in i felt so welcome. They do everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The staff is truly the most sweetest people I ever met. I would recommend everybody to stay here. Breakfast is great!

- Hostel very dirty! - Attention: possible herpes hazard!!! - Kitchen/dish was very horny. - Look in the fridge: unhygienic!! - in the kitchen it was glued everywhere - the floor in the entire hostel was very dirty! Hair, dust, handkerchiefs, food residue, dirty bed sheets/towels... + housewife tried. She asked us every morning if we wanted a cheese omelette. Unfortunately, we never had the appetite. + good location conclusion: we will never book this hostel again!

Dirty, dirty, dirty, sucio, sporco!

The hostel was a bit hard to find. Luckily we did find this hidden gem in the end and we had a great time. 

The common room has a very nice vibe and the staff was very friendly. If you want some tomatoes, this is the place to go. Also a lot of books and boardgames. Beds and sleeping arrangements were fine. 

The best surprise was the next morning though. The hostel lady Sandra made an AMAZING breakfast... there was choice between fresh bread right out of the oven. eggs, sausages, cheeses, spreads, jams, TOMATOES, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal. Or just have it all! Sandra wanted us to eat eat eat... no breakfast limit! And served until 2pm!!! 

Also she made us take away some food for lunch as well. You have be a bit of an experienced traveller to appreciate what this hostel has to offer. There's no denying that there's some mess (see other reviews) BUT overall for the price I found this to be one of the best and most fair hostels in the Netherlands!

Only real complaint was that it was a bit noisy in the morning.. so don't expect to sleep in too late! Otherwise great stay at this cozy hostel :)

Everything is terrible. I only stayed one night and it was enough. I'm going to start listing 1) It's extremely expensive for what they offer, i.e. 25 euros per litter in a 16-bedroom, dirty, ventilated room. 2) The employee he serves is unprofessional, in fact, once he had paid, and on returning from a tour of the city, he was offering my bed to a new client. I had to tell him to take a detour in his action, since that was my bed. 3) Everything was absolutely dirty, the stairs, the bathrooms, the rooms were dirty, the dirty mattress was just like the saddles. 4) Afirman had a free breakfast, but the other day a lady from the place wanted to open a tasty, and I saw the little room of seduction and the products they offered for the emergency station, and it only made me feel a little surprised by the way I could get a little vomit. 5) Of course, just waiting for a few minutes to get to the central station makes me feel so much worse.

It's the worst thing I've ever experienced.

The bedroom is dirty and down, the windows are not insulating from cold or noise, and the promised showers in the bedroom were out of operation, so you had to walk up to the third floor to use the dirty showers there.

Hostel for people who still want to sleep and shower there.

Utterly shocking quality. I have stayed in countless hostels, many of them in a poor state but never felt the need to write a review. This one is, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst hostel I have ever been to. The kitchen was cramped with poor food right next to open bins, every toilet was filthy, there were several holes in walls and floorboards - I never even dared to look at the shower. There were mops standing around, but ironically, they were just collecting dust. Filthy throughout, with smears, bedding and mould patches everywhere!

The dorms were cramped, with smashed windows held together by tape. Rubber mattresses, faux leather pillows (where most guests sleep without bed sheets because they cost extra), and since there is free bed selection, the staff has no idea which beds have been used, which supports my theory that the beds are never cleaned. The beds are also strangely tiny, I am of average height and my head and heels touched both ends of the bed simultaneously. No staff available at checkout, which is a shame because I (despite hating conflict) wanted to tell them how unacceptable this is. Hopefully the Dutch authorities will perform even the most basic inspection soon.

Having read the reviews, the only reason I chose to stay here was that it was the only available bed. If you find yourself in that situation, look outside of Utrecht or consider rebooking your holiday, staying here will leave you feeling exhausted and grotty for your whole trip in a lovely city - even if you only stay for one night. The only positive experience was leaving, having learnt that I should take reviews seriously from now on.
