Convenient location, 15 minutes walk from the city centre, and a few steps from the bus stop. Well furnished rooms, spacious enough, with tea and coffee options. Breakfast varied and abundant. Average price considering you're in the Netherlands.

That's great.

I have stayed in over 100 hostels around the world, almost all of them in developing (poor) countries, but I've never experienced mattresses that are this bad, by far. In comfort, they are not that far away from just sleeping on a hard floor.

Pretty bad

Second time here. Very handy location with bus stop outside and about 20min walk to the main station.
No frills.
We booked a two bed apartment - which did not appear to be as advertised. We'd actually booked 'a room' in an apartment where the other room was booked also.
Cop-on moment - this is a youth hostel..
Clean facilities. Friendly staff.

Handy stopover

People were very friendly. Location is good and breakfast was simple but ok. However, paper thin walls and windows with air vents you cannot close in combination with loud people hanging around in the courtyard till deep in the night is a total disaster. We were also unaware our "deluxe" room was a shared apartment with no power plugs in the bedroom or a private bathroom. We found out it was shared when a guy just opened the door middle of the night.

Don't go there if you actually want to sleep

This place is okay if you are on a tight budget. Breakfast is not included, and you have to pay separately, and it is not worth the price. There are nearby eateries and supermarkets where you can find good food and drinks. The showers were a disaster and only hot water came out from them!
However, the bus stop is just outside the hostel, and that is a good thing about this place!

Cheap place to stay

The reception was nice but it was also. The rooms were a larger storage room. Bedrooms were more than by location. Blankets in the carpet and on the walls. No own bathroom but 3 rooms and 1 bathroom..not common for a hotel. Even the last booked B&B was much better. The breakfast now except for toast bread and day by day the same exhibition was not the burner. Mountain packaging garbage at the end. Now toilets were not cleaned for 2 days. Really bad. Never been in a hostel but I imagine the same. Community showers and toilets and small rooms with lots of people. Thin walls and loud tickets are very expensive. Yes, the World Wide Web and the cost of parking are not the same.

HOSTEL hides behind the name Hotel.

Awesome hostel very close to the center of Groningen and UMCG. Stayed in a single room, which was very clean and had a good bed. The breakfast was great, with fruits, breads, cheese, and other options. Wifi was good. The bathroom is shared, and could be a little bit more clean. The shower also turns off by itself after a few minutes.

Great hostel

On arrival they asked us to pay right away. I've never had that experience anywhere in Europe. The two receptionists were grumpy and unfriendly. I really wonder how on earth they can hold positions like this. The room was in a cellar with moderate lights, very low ceilings and exposure to the outside noise from the smoking area... The room was clean and tidy. The mattresses were old and way too soft. No surprise, they were caving in already we landed on them. I understand it is a "hostel" but then the price should also reflect that... 72 EUR (with 10 EUR discount) So basically an 82 EUR private room with shared toilet and bathroom for 1 night!!!!!! Nonsense. It is not Paris or London. It is a small Dutch town...

Pricy place, staff is not friendly at all.

The warm welcome and tranquility of the neighbourhood in the heart of the city are perfectly combined with the charm of the place. The rooms and common areas are spacious and tasteful.

Pilgrimage to Groningen

I visited Groningen with a few friends, spent a night there and it was better (and cheaper) than in a hostel of this type (with shared rooms).We were four girls and chose to stay in a room for 16 people (the price was good and we only slept one night).
