4 reviewsThis is a return visit after being introduced by a colleague; we tend to overnight in Ruacana when driving from Namibia to Angola. Ruacana has some sights, but the driving force is the hydroelectric installation, so in the past we always stayed at the utility’s hotel. The owner (who lives across the road) met me promptly when I telephoned on arrival. Dinner (see below) was delivered slightly earlier than promised. I regret staying only overnight here! It’s actually a small house not a room: a living room/lounge with fully equipped kitchen area at one end, spacious bedroom with king size bed plus a single bed, and large bathroom with shower. It would be a very comfortable base for exploring NW Namibia although that’s not my opportunity at the moment. In future we will plan for self catering even overnight since it’s so well equipped. However on request Anne Maré will prepare dinner and breakfast, delivered to the suite. It’s not gourmet fare but tasty. Ruacana is not a big tourist market; of the options available I think this is probably the overall best, and it certainly met my need for a good rest in the middle of a 1000 km drive.
