Originally planned to stay here a few nights and move on, but ended up booking a few more days to fully explore Yangon. Dorm beds have curtains, so you can have some privacy. Toilets were very clean, not dirty at all. Staff were most accommodating with allowing us to switch to another dorm room, as we wanted a more quiet room. They also helped us book bus tickets to Mandalay, and suggested local places to visit. 

Great location, looked after very well. 

My friend and I stayed here for two nights (Feb. 11, 2018 and Feb. 16, 2018). Located not too far from some attractions like the Sule Pagoda, Maha Bandoola Park, and some of Yangon's Heritage buildings. The rooms are well-ventillated and clean, and so are the bathrooms. The bed is super comfy with individual curtains for privacy. The staffs are helpful and friendly. They also helped us book our bus ticket going to Pyay. Overall, we had such a good experience staying here and I definitely recommend this place if you want to have a bit of a luxury for your accommodation while saving some kyats at the same time.

Great location, comfy bed, and friendly staff.

Wayfarers Rest is situated at a very central location in downtown Yangon - about 2.5 km from Yangon central railway station, 1 km from Sule Pagoda and 2 km from the Shwe Dagon Pagoda. It's a clean professional hostel with large, roomy beds, clean bathrooms and responsive staff. The breakfast is not buffet but adequate for the morning and there is no real common area so waiting around is not possible but that apart I found it quite excellent.

Well located and great beds.

Stayed here for one night while in Yangon. Great dorm beds, they are large and have nice curtains. Bathrooms and toilets are very clean. There is not really a social area. The night market with great local food is less then 5 minutes away.

Great luxurious dorm beds

Overall we stayed here for 12 night. First visit was before and during the Thingyan (Water) Festival and second visit was 2 weeks after the Festival. 

When we first arrived it was very quite, everything is clean and didn’t have problem. During the festival, since they were become extremely busy because most travellers were stuck in Yangon as there was no transport out of town available. Their cleanliness everywhere in the property especially bathroom and toilet wasn't the best but it was understandable.

During the second stayed, we found the place was not super busy but not too quite either. Which we though the cleanliness would be back as what we found on our first visit. However, we found the place wasn’t as clean as our very first visit. But there was some improvement with their wifi connection in the room.

They have staffs but somehow the management wasn’t strict enough to tell their workers to work. As the staffs are just sitting there doing nothing most of the day. If they keep doing that the cleanliness in the property won’t be good in the next few months. 

Major concern is the POWER SHORTAGE. It is very common in the whole Myanmar, however most businesses have their own generator to keep having electricity during the shortage. Wayfarer’s Rest doesn’t have one, which is frustrating because power shortage happens almost everyday and can be more than 10 times in a day. So room temperature is a big problem, we found it hard to sleep for a few nights because of the electricity problem. Sometimes they can't even toast a bread. 

All staffs are very friendly, even with their not so good English they will try their best to help you. Only the manager speaks better English but the others need to speak English more. We were happy to stayed there just because of the staffs and fairly clean compare to some of Myanmar’s hostels. But cleanliness seriously need to improved in a long run
