I don’t understand this reviews really! Lily was amazing with us! Literally the friendliest people I met in Myanmar! She did everything for us, arranged buses for us and for our motorbikes when all the companies were saying they were sold out! She did honestly everything she could for us with a big smile on the face! And the tour with U Tobin her brother was beyond amazing! He is so sweet and knowledgable about the trek and the country history! Also we didn’t saw a turist throughout the whole 3 day treking - only close to the lake but there’s not much to do about - he def knows the hidden tracks and the authentic ways... thank you so much for everything Golden family!

We did the trek with Robin, the guide from Golden Lily and it was fantastic
He is in a different level- years on years of experience, wide knowledge about nature and the surrounding and excellent English.

I had an amazing trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake with Robin! Really friendly man, gives excellent information and helps you with everything! He takes the non-touristic route so the first day we didn't see other tourist. He goes to the medicin man, really interesting! I will definitely recommend Robin to be your guide!!

I didn’t sleep there but I went to a trekking for 3 days and 2 night ( one night I slept in a family house and otherkn a monastery)

I was an amazing experience... the guide was very friendly, the food delicious and the price was the cheaper that an other places.

An amazing trek with Robin!

Amazing trek

I don't have a lot to say about the Hotel itself, there's a reason it's so cheap. The could really do with better curtains, bed sheets that actually fit the mattresses and they need to really clean the place, but we booked our trek through the hotel and we're so very glad we did. The owner's brother Robin will take you on a 3 day 2 night trek that's so far removed from what the other tour companies do that you genuinely don't see any other tourist. You will get to visit the "medicine man" who practises ancient traditional remedies from Tumeric, and have a chance to taste and buy the best honey in the world. You will stay with families in the most rural parts of Myanmar who are all so kind and welcoming (and cook great food), there is no way you'd ever be able to get a glimpse of this way of life other that doing this trek. Robin himself is a walking encyclopedia. He knows EVERYTHING about the nature and will teach you as you go along, and he will also speak openly and honestly about Myanmar as a country. Can't recommend this guy enough, thanks again!

Hotel gets a 1, trek gets a 5!

Basic furniture.. 
Bathroom and toilets not very very clean..
But it was cheap, so there was nothing else to expect for the price 😬.

Breakfast was ok (coffee, two crepes and a piece of watermelon). 

My only bad review will be for the lady manager who was noce at the beginning, but asked me to pay a different price on the second night while, on the previous morning i asked if i could keep the room and she answered « same room, same price » ! Indeed, i arrived the first night early morning (3.30am) and had no booking, so i was already glad to have a place where to finish my night, but she could at least, let me informed about the different price for the second night. I thought her attitude was not fair nor professional..

Basic

Hotel with lot of charm and great potential. Very big common areas but not very clean, especially bathroom. Service is ok. However don't miss a change to do a trek with robin, the brother of Lily. He s awesome. Took us for a day trip in a special circuit were no tourist trekking companies go, we learnt so much about local cultures, tribes, natural medicine, Myanmar society and Asia in general. We hope to meet him again some time. In addition, throughout the hike he was buying local products to make us try and giving donations to the families we were visiting so its very sustainable and even small villages can benefit from trekking industry.he s such a generous soul.  U don't need to stay at the hostel to book with him by the way.

Great trekking guide there ask Robin !

The woman who seems nice at the beginning is mainly interested in your money ! We wanted to go trekking with her brother Robin, she told us the price was 38000 kyats per person for 3 days 2 nights (same price than some agencies in town) so we agreed on that and the trekking would start in 2 days cause Robin was coming back tomorrow. We stayed one day in kalaw and saw Robin the next evening. He tried to convince us that it would be better for us to stay one more day before trekking... we understood he wanted some rest and agreed. After some speech he told us the price will be 20$ per day per people ! (Almost 3 times the price we agreed to pay the day before) We said no of course and ask him to lower the price but he refused ! So we lost one more day because of him. Next day we booked through jungle king for 38000 kyats. The next evening Robin having no customers to come trekking with him he told a english guy he can come with him for 3 days at 40$. The english guy agreed and finally we met him alone during the trek... we asked him what happened and he told us Robin annonced him this morning that he'll need to find more people for the trekking and so they were not going today ! This guy is very rude and doesn't care about you and your time, he just want your money and no matters how he'll get it !!! I'll recommend you to avoid this place at all cost the hotel next door is almost the same price and you'll get water and toilet paper because in golden lily everything comes with a price the owner won't even let you refill a 50cl water bottle, she'd rather sell you a 1 liter one !

Worst stay in myanmar !

Wanted to try if she really is the most unfriendly person in Myanmar...and...she is! Such people should never work with customers. Just imagine her face after the information I'm gonna book online (because of cashback) than directly with her:-) They don't even say "hi" to you, no information about the accomodation given, no drinking water (which people give you free in the streets, but she won't as she's trying to make money on it), tiny breakfast, one working shower for twenty people...but yeah, it's cheap. Luckily other myanmarese (especially shan) people are the most welcoming in the world, but it's definitely interesting experience :-)

Unfriendly

We were received in an unfriendly way just like its full amd she turned her back to us. Then we said we have reservation. Room was not nice transparent curtains no privacy. Shower was not nice and outside but there gets cold in the evening. Breakfast was ok... definitely dont recommend this place
