But arriving to Riad Merzouga, Hamid helped me with everything . he was much more than a host, he was a brilliant tripadvisor, travel guide and friend - extremely helpful, hospitable and professional at all times. He helped me organise my desert excursion (the best deal and care!!! be sure to book it through him!!!!), bus tickets and emergency trip to the nearest ATM in Rissani!!! As other Spanish guests told me when I arrived, Riad Merzouga really do take care of their guests well and I could completely confirm that throughout my entire stay. Hamid and Mustapha are a brilliant team, who have vast experience in the tourist industry and are doing a fantastic job. It is not as touristy a place as the hotels right on the sanddunes so you can still interact with the locals, walk to the village of Merzouga through the oasis only 1 km away and the sanddunes are also only 1km away from the Riad too, so you have the best of both worlds in my opinion. The riad is beautifully decorated, each room innovatively and individually tailored and the terrace is ideal for breakfast in the early morning sun and star-gazing at night. The meals are fantastic, especially the vegetarian tajin!
