Fantastic
16 reviewsI treated my parents to a long weekend in marakech as they had never been. I booked the riad ravel because of its location close to the souks and I couldn't be happier. The transfer couldn't go to the riad as it is in the old town but the owner met us and as we pulled up and carried our bags down. The rooms are basic but very clean and all that you need. If you are expecting toiletries and hairdryers go stay in a hotel a riad is a guest house so don't expect hotel service. Breakfast was perfect the owner asked what time we wanted it and when we came down he came and poured freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh breads, pancakes and preserves. The owner was friendly and incredibly helpful, gave us advice, arranged our transfer home he couldn't do enough. We where around a lot, my parents are getting on so after a few hours of walking around we came back to sit and relax in the garden under the shade of the trees it was idyllic. We talked to the owner in the garden and my dad said jokingly all he needed was a nice cold beer and straight away he said he will have them for tomorrow how many do we want and the next afternoon when we sat down in the garden he can out with ice cold beers. We asked the owner if he could recommend a place to eat, he asked if we would like to eat there so we asked if he had a menu his reply was "you say what you want my wife will cook." So we had a lovely meal of Moroccan salad, griddled courgettes and aubergine mousse followed by a divine beef tourine and then freshly made fruit salad. For the 3 courses for 3 people, a bottle of local wine and 8 beers it cost us 900Dm (£72). People on reviews have been saying meals in the riad are expensive but less than £25 per person for 3 courses, wine and beers, in what world is that expensive. I really can't recommend this riad enough
