JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa

From the moment we stepped off of our flight from Dubai, we were warmly greeted by the airport Marriott staff and ushered first to a private lounge and then to a seaplane for the transfer to the island. After a short one hour flight, we arrived at the JW Resort on a small strip of land in the middle of the ocean. A large contingent of staff was there to greet us with a traditional Maldivian greeting and we were then introduced to our assigned Butler. In our case, our uber-friendly Butler was Naawish, who was always at our beck and call. We booked into a private beachfront villa with a private pool. Unfortunately, it was situated too close to the resort's entrance, so we asked to be moved and that request was promptly and happily accommodated. Our new villa was perfect and serene. It was located on the "Sunrise" side, and each morning's sunrise was a real treat to behold. Even though the resort was a near capacity, we often felt like we had the resort to ourselves. Our new daily habit quickly became, waking up, having coffee, watching the sunrise from our beach loungers, to the summoning Naawish to take us by golf cart {"buggy") to the breakfast restaurant; then being dropped off at the "Adult" pool, which as it turned out, we mostly enjoyed by ourselves. At the pool was an awesome young man who set up our towels and bring us drinks. We would then have lunch at the adjacent Thai "treehouse" restaurant, where we were warmly greeted by the chefs and staff. In particular, we received excellent service from another young man named Zuhoran. We found that the staff often worked at different venues at the other mealtimes, so we would receive the same warm, smiling, enthusiastic service throughout the day. After lunch more relaxation at the beach or at our private villa pool. The food in the restaurants was outstanding and often served in very decent portions. Since we splurged for the "All-inclusive" option, we were also provided with a private dinner served on the beach, and a "floating breakfast" served at our private villa's pool on a floating tray. We also moved once more to an overwater villa with a private pool, which we also found to be over the top wonderful. Everything about the resort is warm, friendly, lo-stress and relaxing. Above all, we cannot say enough about the wonderful, caring staff. We didn't want to leave, but in a word, the place was magical. And being that it's located in the middle the ocean, well.....
