Filitheyo Island Resort

Filitheyo Island has been absolutely amazing. We spent 10 unforgettable days in a water villa, where we could watch both the sunrise and sunset right from our deck. We often saw small fish swimming below us and sometimes even a curious reef shark passing by. We had breakfast and dinner included, which was absolutely sufficient — the variety and quality of food were excellent. Our waiter, Sharoof and his colleague in our area had humor, were full of attentiveness, and great sense of service. Our villa was cleaned every morning and beautifully prepared again in the evening by Kashem, who was always friendly and fulfilled every wish we had. Snorkeling was possible directly from the villa — just a few minutes’ swim to reach the stunning house reef. The house reef itself is spectacular, with plenty of hard corals and an incredible variety of fish. The reef edge drops off quite steeply, which makes it unique and impressive. It takes a little courage at first, but you quickly get used to the depth. We encountered friendly blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, graceful manta rays gliding in the current, as well as eagle rays and sea turtles. The current can sometimes be strong, but with a bit of planning, you can easily choose good entry and exit points and enjoy a relaxing drift along the reef. There are also plenty of activities to choose from: fishing, whale shark and manta excursions, snorkeling trips, night snorkeling, island hopping, and much more, but nothing which would disturb the silence. We personally wouldn’t do the whale shark excursion again — not because of the resort, but because of how the boats behave around the animals in general, which seems to be a general issue in the area and not Filitheyo’s fault. The island itself is beautiful — full of lush palms and tropical plants, offering plenty of shade. The beach villas also looked lovely and well integrated into the scenery. In the mornings and evenings, you can often spot fruit bats flying gracefully between the trees, which adds to the island’s natural charm. A special highlight was the Halloween party. The decorations were done with incredible attention to detail, and the themed buffet that evening was absolutely amazing. The chefs clearly put a lot of love and effort into creating a fantastic culinary experience. In general, the food throughout our stay was excellent — every day offered a great variety of delicious dishes, making it hard to choose what to try first! Everyone was so kind, and Amesh especially checked in with us daily to make sure we were happy and enjoying everything. Highly recommended for anyone who loves calm, nature, and snorkeling — just amazing!
