Sunbird Capital Hotel

The hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and always give VIP treatment to the guests. This is my second time to sleep at the hotel, and I have never been disappointed.



I stayed two nights on a business trip. The room was big, fully equipped and the staff was nice and helpful. 
The restaurant was also very good. If I have to say something to improve, I would say that the mosquito net was too short for the bed. But in general, I had a wonderful stay. 


Excellent and beautiful hotel. Payo provided excellent transportation service.

I recently stayed at the Sunbird Capital Hotel over a 3 week period and couldn't be happier, mostly thanks to the friendliest and most helpful staff I have ever encountered. The hotel rooms are more along the line of very comfortable 3 star in the U.S. (with some points of wear) than 5 star, but the atmosphere and service are the best I've experienced for solid business hotels in comparable settings. I'll take clean, comfortable rooms, lovely gardens, solid dining, and friendly, helpful staff every time. Thank you for a great stay!

The Sunbird Capital is a solid home (and office) away from home. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely. The pool is clean. Transportation is easily arranged. The cafe is friendly and reliable. My local colleagues were right to advise me to stay here - I'm returning happily for a second stay.

The environment is excellent, food is awesome 👌,  it's really really amazing. I would never regret being here.  Keep it up

I met the best hoteliers, slept on the cleanest bed sheets, pampered with the whitest towels, ate the best food. Overall, my stay is memorable. Regarding the hoteliers miss Dorthy Simpokolwe did the best, she is smart, honest, eloquent and very charming.

I travel on a project collaboration on behalf  of my university. I come regularly, and I always stay here. I also bring colleagues. It has a good environment for work and meetings. It is peaceful and friendly and food is very good 

Would highly recommend compared to other hotels in the area.

I had a comfortable stay at Sunbird Capital. Although the rooms are quite old, they are well maintained. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful, it was a delight to have my evening walks. The hotel is in a safe part of the city so it was easy to have walks and jogs nearby the hotel. I may not have enjoyed the meals for the most part, but the traditional lunch buffet on Thursdays was excellent.

Good stay overall

Over all, my stay at Sunbird Capital was just great, from the hospitality of the different  service providers to the breakfast food, as i was on a bed and breakfast stay, was just on point. One thing that was a bit worrisome was the slow internet speed especially during morning hours. It's therefore my wish to visit the hotel again, to maximize on the other services that the hotel offers like gym and swimming pool services, which during my stay i couldn't enjoy them too due to my tight schedule .

My Second Experience with Sunbird Capital

I came from the USA and stayed here for a week for a work conference that was hosted here. The facilities (meeting room, pool, lodging, bars, restaurant) was all fantastic. The service was very friendly, everything runs very smoothly. Good water pressure, hot water, Wi-Fi, and everything you need for a business meeting. I enjoyed it a lot and would be back! Also did a day trip to the one in Salima at the lake and it was high standards and quality as well. Thank you for a nice stay!

From the moment the taxi stopped outside we were welcomed to the Sunbird Capital – first by Poya “I have a passion for excellence,” then Elliam, who, when we returned after more than two weeks, remembered the football teams we supported. 
The room we had was absolutely brilliant – thank you again Martin and Julia – the bar is comfortable and well-stocked and there is both a formal and an informal restaurant, each serving excellent local food among their other dishes.
We took the hotel’s taxi service to and from the airport about thirty minutes away and altogether both stays were very comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you everyone. We will return! 


Close to airport and so welcoming.

Stayed at the Capital during a 5 week business trip. The staff wete very attentive and friendly and the room was cozy. The gardens were nice with many quiet places to sit and work. Internet was ok at tge beginning but towards the end it waa barely functioning. Breakfast was a bit boring after the 3rd day as the menu started repeating. Food was decent but not exceptional.  Vincent's was perhaps the slightly better one of the restaraunts. Pizza, although raved about, was not veey good. There are much better food options around for cheaper.A bit far to Old Town, but quite a few decent shops and restaraunts/cafes nearby (short taxi ride).All in all, it was good value for money.

Month long business trip

I absolutely love the staff at Sunbird Capital extremely friendly, welcoming and efficient at their duties. I enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the peaceful environment. The pool needs some work and the housekeeping staff needs to be mindful of having loud conversations in the hallways especially early in the morning.

This has to be one of the better hotels in Lilongwe, even though it starts to look a bit dated. It is situated perfectly for business travellers who have meetings in City Centre or on Capitol Hill, which are both very close by. The room was large and comfortable with a nice work space, a big bed, a small tea kitchen, flat screen TV etc. The wifi was reliable and quite fast. There is a pool and a nice restaurant (indoor and outdoor). There was even a bath tub, even though I never used it. The laundry service was fast and good and the hotel could facilitate transport etc upon request. I did not miss anything during my stay there and would definitely stay again.

Has everything you need for a business trip

The staff was great.  The rooms have been updated since I was there last.  They have very convenient switches next to your bed to control all lights in the room.  Even better than most hotels in the use as far as that goes.The staff was extremely kind.  The food was ok.  better than most restaurants in Lilongwe for comparison.I have stayed at several hotels in Lilongwe and this is the best I have experienced there.I will come back and I will recommend to anyone.
