Very good
36 reviewsWe definitely recommend the cottages and would stay there again! Short review: great if you are looking for a low key homebase while touring around Zamami. Better than its website’s pic! Not for people used to 4 or 5-star hotels. We stayed the week before Christmas and had an amazing time, but keep in mind that we were there by ourselves and had free use of the entire communal cottage facility including exclusive use of the rooftop deck and kitchen. Where we stayed had six cottages, a bathroom with two separated roomed off stalls and three showers, two side by side, separated by a short wall, and one by itself. There was a small bathroom and shower unit in the cottage too. The kitchen was well equipped and clean, though it had a bit of an “old fridge” scent about it: nothing too serious. Might be an off-season problem. The cottage is for people looking for a laid back vacation and they was cute, but not fancy. The pics included on the website make the cottages look shabbier than they are. It felt more like a beach house and more up to date than we expected from the pics. We were pleasantly surprised by the coziness. There is an upstairs loft-platform where a second couple or kids could sleep when futons are put there. Ample electrical outlets including some in the loft area. Free wi-fi. There is a smoking area behind the last cottage with a picnic table under an awning. Laundry machine. We hung our clothes to dry. There is an actual dryer (rare for Japan) but you have to pay to use it. Lots of places to hang clothes. The deck is pretty neat. It is basically the roof of one part of the complex, but it is freshly painted, safe and has tables and deck chairs and, if you are brave enough, a rooftop bathtub. We might have tried this if there had been curtains. There was a place for these but they were not up. It would be a brave couple indeed who used this when the other cottages had guests. All showers and bath had free shampoo and body wash. You need to bring your own towel, however. The couple that runs the facility is friendly. There also run another set of rooms but we did not see these. The lady visited the cottages twice (while we were there) during the week to clean common areas. Everything was spotless. The cottage is on a canal which is quite pleasant. It is close to the harbour, a grocery store, restaurants, 15 minute walk from Furuzamami beach and about twenty-five to Ama beach.
