Stayed five nights in a Japanese style room. Room is quiet and small but adequate for one person. Sleeping on mattress and tatami mat is comfortable. A few trivial cons: TV has only one local and one English channel; absolutely no view and noisy washroom fan. Opted buffet breakfast is delicious in a sitting area with a great view of a lotus pond and morning exercise locals. Staff at the reception are all friendly and courteous. The use of an onsen "privately" on the top floor is a splendid bonus. Location is unbeatable with everything within walking distance: Ueno Park ( with five museums/art galleries, a temple of national treasure, Ueno Zoo, great park/ponds for strolls, Ueno stations with multiple train routes including one for Narita Airport and endless shopping /dining opportunities like OIOI, AbAb and Matsusakaya.
