Excellent
We stayed here for 3 weeks using Tokyo as our base for the family holiday. Rarely would I give any accommodation a 5 start rating so what was so good about this place? Simplest explanation would be the little things. I always have only two criteria when staying at a place. 1) The beds must be comfortable and 2) the shower must have decent pressure. I have now added a 3rd thing after our stay. That is the staff must not appear to be but actually are helpful. 1) The room was twin king singles (not asked for but got anyway) as we wanted a bigger than normal room. Initially had reservations about comfort but after 3 weeks I can say the bed was really comfortable. 2) The shower was excellent. Hot water almost instantly and a bloody good pressure!! 3) Heaps of places we have stayed in over the years and staff generally are nice. Sunroute was made that little bit better thanks to one staff member. Her name was Ms Upasana. This lady came across as genuinely wanting to help. I’m in my seventies and not always firing on all cylinders. Without any fuss this young lady on a few occasions stepped up and sorted out the issues I encounter. Done in a professional but very friendly way. There are two washing machines (presumably on every floor) and from memory around Y600. There was no need for washing powder as the machine was preloaded. A negative was the drying. Even extending the drying cycle by an extra ½ hour, cloths were still damp. Really, the only negative I could give this Hotel is the price. Shinjuku is an expensive area but I felt the asking price per night was a bit much. We didn’t eat there as it also seemed expensive. There is excellent eateries all round. Recommend the “Food Hall Blast” across the road. The hotel is ideally situated near the main Shinjuku railway station (around an 8-minute walk), and there are lots of shops close by as well. Would I stay there again? If the price was lower, most definitely.
