Pension Maple Heim

Stayed here in the summer with friends for sections 3 to 5 of the Shen-Etsu Trail. A small family-run lodge, which is quaint and comfortable. The highlight is definitely the food. Amazing home-cooked Japanese food three times a day (a packed bento box for hiking). Traditional Japanese bedding is very comfortable. Shared toilets in each wing of the lodge and the property has its own private onsen for after a long day’s hike. The owners ferried us to and from the track each day (and even drove an hour to pick us up from the neighbouring prefecture after we accidentally came down the wrong side of the mountain!). The owners are lovely and very obliging. Highly recommend for summer hiking.
