I had the oden, the unique blue cheese tofu, and the ochazuke.  I also had the Suntori Hakushu whiskey, a new favorite.   All were perfect and quite reasonably priced.  Service was immediate whenever I caught a server's eye, and despite their kindly posted warning that no English speakers working today, language was not an issue.

The staff at asuka lodge could not do enough for us as guests. They do nightly shuttles into Echoland, the breakfasts are amazing and even helped us with rail passes. Rooms are clean and the location is great. We stayed as a group of 6 here and we will 100% will be back! 

Enjoyed my stay so much and would recommend to all who are looking for a place in Happo! Ollie, Jess and Will were super accommodating, breakfast was well worth it! Rooms were clean and warm. Close to Happo gondala! Will definitely be back soon!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Asuka lodge. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding with a new hot breakfast menu every day including pancakes, breakfast burritos and french toast. The stand out staff were Tiahn, Jess and Ollie who were super welcoming and made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond to help their guests. We will definitely be back again.

As a solo traveller, staying at Asuka Lodge has been the highlight of my trip, where not only do the staff working there go above and beyond (pick ups from the Bus Terminal, daily shuttles to the grocery store/restaurants/local onsen), but they are friendly enough that you can genuinely call them your friends. Super knowledgeable and helpful. 

The included breakfasts are substantial and varied, the rooms are very comfortable, the inhouse bar is always occupied, and there's always the option to be watching something on netflix in the common area. The inhouse sento is not the usual bathing facility but a hot mineral bath was a plus after a day snowboarding. Great location in relation to the slopes.

Can't recommend highly enough!

Loved our stay at this hostel! The staff for this 2018/19 season are brilliant! We had breakfast every morning which included fruit, cereal, toast, eggs and other hot food. The bedroom was good and included heating. There are plenty of restaurants and ski rental places within a short walk. The convenience store/ATM is about a 10-15 minute away. Brilliant location for Happo One and 15 minute free bus ride to Goryu. The staff also picked us up from the Hakuba train station and dropped us at the bus terminal when we left. Would highly recommend Asuka! 

Accomodation is very well located, with ski hire down the road. And a ski lift across the street. Breakfast was much better than expected and the lodge had good facilities for keeping a family entertained, pool table, lounge, Nintendo. Rooms are quite spacious.
Justin picked us up from the train station and dropped us off on departure which was excellent.

Stayed here for 5 nights in a queen room with a bathroom. I’m glad we got a private bathroom as the main bathrooms are closed 10 to 3, and some days we boarded in the morning then showered before sight seeing in the arvo. Room is basic but comfy. The breakfast was good with a continental selection laid out and then each day they had a different hot meal they would cook if you wanted. The location is about 200m up a steep hill from the gondola and opposite the end of another run so you can ski right back to the lodge. Has a drying room in the basement you can get to from the main road but isn’t locked and is pretty smelly. Staff are friendly and helpful. Also has a pool table and bar area. Overall pretty good place to stay 

Dropped in without reservation, they found a spare chair and a space at the counter. Great food, good service and charming staff. Recommend the chicken wings and the yakatori salted pork ribs, did I mention the big beers, don’t get the huge. 


Super good meal tonight. We didn’t book but they had no issues squeezing us in to the bench area. Food was quick and delicious. Best yakatori salt pork ribs. Omg I’ve been waiting 12 months for this and it didn’t disappoint. Yum!  Everything else was fantastic also. Can’t beat the cold beer. Yummo!
