I have stayed many Onsen Ryokans in Japan. This is one of the best Onsen Ryokan. The panorama Ocean View was much more beautiful than I  expected. This hotel is not so large  that  I could spend time quietly and  enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast were good. Especially, Bungo beef  dinner was fairy tasty. According to a staff, the owner run also a stock farm. The staff was kind and very attentive. I would like to stay here again.

Pleasant service and excellent dinner served in the room. You should definitely book the room with dinner included. Staff tries their best to explain in English even though most speak only Japanese. Onsen is nice too. Suggest that you take a taxi from beppu station to shiori (abt 1000¥). They have a free ride back to beppu station when you leave. 

The hotel location was quite hard to find but the room has a nice sea views. Dinner was amazing, one of the best we had in Kyushu.

We wanted to reserve the family onsen but was told that it was fully booked. Instead, we used the public onsen which was very nice too! The hotel was very nice to give us a discount for not able to reserve the family onsen. This was a pleasant surprise to us! 

Local friends organised a stayover at this Ryokan rather than the larger hotels in the area and it was perfect. My wife and I shared a private onsen before dinner was arranged and served in our Japanese style room. Our friends and daughter joined us and the meal was incredible. Plenty of schochu later we were ready for bed tatami style. In the morning, I tried the public outdoor bath in the rain and it was gorgeous. Breakfast was again substantial although very traditional with lots of fish. Would certainly stay here again. Fully recommend for the traditional Japanese experience.
