Booked this hotel via Agoda a week before the day, Just a moments before check-in, they cancelled my bookings. Terrible hotel, terrible staff. Dirty floor, dirty pool, dirty lobby, small parking lot. Bad

Bad service, bad experience

I had an amazing stay at the Sawah Joglo Boutique Villa and Resort. The place might be a bit hard to find cos the place is a bit secluded. If you look for a quiet and relax place, less-crowded and non-glamorous to stay in, then this is the place for you. I stayed at the one room villa and the view from my room is the paddyfield. The sunrise is amazing at the dawn. The breakfast menu is ok, but just enough for me. The Botique owner was there greeting us in the morning so I guess it adds another value-add to the whole experience. 

Serenity at the paddyfield

Was quite shocked with the service I received upon coming to Sawah Joglo on a travel trip with a couple of my university friends. Everyone was equally surprised as it was located somewhere in the midst of rice fields — something you don’t really see in Jogja anymore. The morning views were the best because you could see the Merapi Mountain (yes, the active mountain) in all it’s glory basking a full-fledged figure waiting to be ticked off. 

We actually got food at the restaurant at the villa as well and we were surprised at how juicy the pork rivs were! A must recommend for travellers who wanna wind down at night and just crack open a beer because oh boy the beer definitely complemented the ribs. We ordered the poka sauce baby back ribs and were sent straight to tropical nirvana with the flavors in our mouth.

Coming back to the topic of the villa, we’d say it was a relatively cheap villa for the amenities we were provided. I would certainly come again!!

Beautiful Merapi Views

Staying while rainy season and The roof is leaking. Staff at restaurant were very friendly. Having a problem with payment when checking out so we have to wait for almost 1 hour for confirmation. So many cute dog around. So many good restaurant nearby.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place. Yes, you may like the large villa there with its unique location among the rice fields, it's nice and calm. But the amount of problems created by the external team that manages it makes the whole experience so negative that you will regret coming there. 

I tried to book the large villa twice and twice the reservation was confirmed. Then, just a moments before check-in, they rejected my bookings - because there was an 'important, old customer' who wanted this villa too. So they put me in a small room with leaking roof instead. 

Well, this is a place where you can feel like SECOND CATEGORY GUEST. 

I have to say that the the people who work there are great. Very polite and very helpful. They can cook a delicious local food, and will help you with any problems. 

They just should cancel their deal with this external management company, and start manage the place by themselves. Until then I will stay away.

A Disappointing, Negative Experience

We stayed in the 1-bedroom villa. Very nice ambience for couples. The villa offers a true getaway for couples with its own wooden gate. Good wooden 'joglo'. A small swimming pool is available near the front office. The hotel is located in a secluded neighbourhood where we can still see blocks of rice fields. Hopefully those fields will stay (we see more buildings will come up in the area). Limited parking space. Overall, if you are looking for a couples' retreat or hideaway, this is the place. Cannot comment on food as we did not take the meal offer.

It's a very nice hotel, very quiet, very warm and smiling home, very spacious room, very comfortable bed, very convenient bathroom, bad for open toilets, not very commercial service.

We stayed at this resort in June 2015, for our first honeymoon stop. At the airport we got picked up and in 20 minutes we were in the room. We took a fantastic Joglo style villa!!! The bathroom was very clean and very modern, as well as the room and the entire resort in general. The photos you find are very realistic, so we didn't add any more. At the reception you can arrange beautiful tours (temples, volcano, malioboro..). The staff were always very nice and available, the good thing is that I'm always with a smile on my face, and this is fabulous! Don't be discouraged from the center, even because the city is really chaotic and noisy, while at the Sawah and Joglo Villa you can enjoy a beautiful view of the volcanoes.
