Eden Garden Ayurvedic Health Retreat

This place is breathtaking, situated on the quieter side of varkala, away from the buzz and promenade of shops but just a few minutes walk from the restaurants (going up the quieter roads) and main avenue and 2 min away from the beach. Private bath tub and separated toilet too which I think is better than a walking washroom. The staff was friendly and checked us in no time, the room was absolutely amazing, I mean AMAZING - never stayed in a pod above the water ( and yes there are insects as you should expect next to any ponds, no one fault here apart of nature ) the room is extra large, so is the bed and really comfy - best night sleep in here, got met w a few geckos, stayed hours in the tub it was like a dream... And felt like a honeymoon suite. The ceilings are painted in yellow and blue Indian designs, private balcony at the back and front - stayed on a stormy night and could see the lightning through the ceiling windows which added a lot of atmosphere. Reading some of the reviews I am appalled at people expectations... If you can't walk then stay closer to the town but poeple that put this place down are not worth to be listened to. By far one of the best places I stayed and not just in India. If you want something different and full of charm then this is it. Expect to be surprised, and very much pleasantly. Even got a leisure battery in case power cuts out. No fridge but asked to use the reception one so they kept the beers cold, Got this on a deal price but would be more than happy to pay full 100 GBP a night...
