Agonda DropZone Beach Huts

Ok, so drop zone huts are a little more basic than some of the huts now on Agonda but they have everything you need and have an advantage over many others.... the turtle protection site directly in front! There are 4 huts, two larger huts with large front porches facing the sea. One hut which has a partial sea view and one at the back. We stayed in one of the front huts which was clean, bright and had nice tiled flooring, western mattress, very strong WIFI, hot water, clothes storage and a fridge which is a real plus point for Drop Zone. Not many other huts seem to have fridges! To address one of the points from an earlier review. As this is a small business there is only a cleaning lady on site but she arrives around 9 and leaves around 4 (I think). When she isn’t here the owner can be contacted directly via WhatsApp as his number is displayed on the street name sign. You are also able to speak to his brother at Madhu’s restaurant which is around 200 meters down the beach. Both are very helpful and will go out of there way to ensure you have a good stay. Maybe the huts themselves deserve 4 stars but due to their location I’m adding another 1. On our second morning we woke to find a turtle had nested and the eggs were being relocated to the turtle nursery immediately in front of our hut. On our third morning we were alerted by the wildlife protection team that a turtle was laying on the beach so we joined them and watched this rare daytime visit. Sadly we didn’t get the see the babies but with 6 nests in front of the huts those staying in Feb & March have a real treat ahead!
