Kalappura Homestay

Late to the party on writing this review... We have stayed with Jose and his family at the Kalappura Homestay twice in the past 4 years. Our first visit was on our Honeymoon in February 2020 and then again in November 2022. Both times we had an amazing time and experience! I cannot say enough about how welcome we were made to feel, how comfortable the homestay and houseboat rooms were. The were clean, spacious, and had all the amenities we needed. Both times we had an overnight stay on the houseboat. If you are visiting Kerala, the backwaters are a must see, and to do it on Jose's houseboat is the only way to do it! The views, especially at sunrise and sunset while on the deck of the boat are unmatched! Along with that, the service and food served are incredible! Jose and his family are incredible hosts, and the location of their homestay is perfect! We really enjoyed afternoon walks around the town, followed by fresh homemade South Indian food, which is the best Indian food we have ever tasted! We had many experiences during our stay and Jose was so helpful in organizing them for us! From an ayurvedic massage to a canoe ride on the backwaters, it was all set up perfectly so we could relax and enjoy! We aim to be back in Kerala in 2026 and won't look for anywhere else to stay, it will be at the Kalappura Homestay!!
