Very spacious. Convenient to Rainbow Road and other attractions. Clean, gorgeous. Would definitely recommend.

The host Thorey was extremely gracious.  Thank you for a relaxing stay.

We checked in late due to our travel there and the owner had everything ready with key and access to the room. We met her on the last day and she was so sweet. Beautiful accommodations like we stepped into another place, not your average hotel. Only small complaint was the sulfur smell when taking a shower and it didn’t vent well, so all steam from the shower settled on everything in the bathroom making everything wet, lol. We managed though.

Great location with lots of room and comfortable beds. Loved the host dog, too.

Very close to town the pond add a nice touch to walk around

I was allowed to check in early after arriving at Keflavik in an overnight flight. I was allowed to check in as soon as I arrived - around 10:30 a.m.Extremely comfortable bed, quiet neighbourhood, you can walk downtown in about 10 minutes.

Nice people.  Very accommodating.  Good place very near the bus station.

The host was great.  Very communicative and arranged for us to self check in late and as an extra bonus we were able to leave our bags after checkout for a couple of hours which was very convenient.  The room was clean and fine for our one night stay.  However, there was a strange smell from the water in the pipes which made the entire room smell a little unpleasant and there was a lot of noise throughout the night from the walkway right outside as guests checked in and out so be mindful of that if you are a light sleeper.  Overall it is in a good walkable location and fine for a short stay.

The hotel was attractive looking in a nice area of town.  The room was modern, clean, and very well kept, but it was definitely small.  We had 2 large suitcases and barely had enough room to walk around the bed and open the doors! If you are traveling light or don't mind being cramped, it's a pleasant hotel in a residential area of town with easy access to the main shopping area / church.

Nice rooms, but not spacious

The host was very kind and helped us find our room upon arrival. Cleaning service was very nice and asked everyday of we needed anything and always gave us new towels, more soap, etc. The room had heating, which was good since we were there in winter :)It was a reasonable price in Reykjavik for a room. No breakfast, normal sized hotel room containing a queen sized bed, a small desk and chair, water boiler and tea bags + creamer, sugar, etc. The house itself seemed quite large and looked a bit like a white fortress on the outside :) Our room was for two people and was reached from the side of the house.The floors got dirty after a few days of staying there, with us moving in and out everyday xDOtherwise it was a cozy stay! P.S. It is normal that the warm water smells sulphuric in Iceland.

Nice stay!

A great place to stay. Super clean and very large. We had two bedrooms and a full kitchen. The heated floors in the bathroom were a wonderful surprise.Only a 10 min walk from the bus terminal. The host was very helpful. We were able to drop off our luggage pre checkin so we didn’t have to cart it around all day. Would highly recommend.

Great location, close to bus terminal and downtown (there is a bit of a slope in the surrounding neighborhood if that is a concern for anyone), and also in a quiet neighborhood. There is a little bit of wear and tear from previous travelers, which is completely understandable. Overall, very comfortable and would definitely come back. Thank you!

Cozy room in convenient location

It was very nice to have our own room and bathroom away from the main house. It made it so we could come and go as we pleased which was very important for us to see the Northern lights. There is daily housekeeping so we never had to worry about things getting very dirty. Would definitely go back here if I come back to Iceland.

Nice little place

The owner was extremely responsive to any questions we had and was very helpful.  The apartment is beautiful and comfortable.  The linens on the beds were very nice and towels were replaced every day.  Parking is an issue nearby if you happen to rent a car.  Several times we had to park more than three blocks away.  The shower and bathtub combo is not handicapped accessible if you need that.  We loved having a small kitchen which helped to save some money on foods.  Coffee and tea is provided and the brands are excellent!

We booked a one-bedroom suite at Guesthouse Galtafell for a quick overnight stop in Reykjavik.  Communication from the property was excellent; they reached out to confirm our preferences a week ahead of time, and accommodated them perfectly. Check-in and out were a breeze.  Although our short stay did not allow us to fully take advantage of the amenities, we noted that the suite was spacious and kitchen equipped with everything we would need for a longer stay.  The property was clean and walkable to town and local attractions.  It was also more reasonably-priced than other properties (in the centre of town) we've stayed at previously.  The property itself is older (like many buildings in Reykjavik) but our suite was newly renovated, comfortable and modern. It's also very close to the domestic (not KEF) airport and the bus terminal.  We would definitely place Guesthouse Galtafell at the top of our list for future trips to Reykjavik!

Absolutely perfect location for travelers who will rely on Flybus from Reykjavik to main bus terminal. Easy 10 min walk from there, similar distance to heart of Reykjavik. Quiet at night. Some rooms are small and sparse in the converted garage, others are in main guesthouse building with more traditional furnishings. Easy arrived and departure and kind staff. Location is a 11/10 though for travelers on a modest budget using Flybus transfer.
