Cecey Vendégház

Firstly, I would like to thank the staff at Cecey-Vendeghaz for their amazing hospitality. The staff, especially the Mum was really attentive and made it feel like home. I stayed a total of 8 nights, attending Eger's table tennis camp. I spoke to fellow members at the club who stayed at the camps recommended hotel - Villa Citadella and from their responses, I knew I made the right choice as this B&B was less expensive, closer to the city center and had better internet (the internet is fast af - 20MB/s). A few things to point out is the apartment is situated on top of two hills, not really a deal breaker but it's worth a note as you will be sweaty from climbing them and the area is known as the more wealthy region of Eger. The apartment overall was well furnished to say the least, rooms and communal areas were spotless. Yes, the hotel does charge for air-conditioning but if you ask, they will provide you with a fan for free which is just as adequate for cooling. The only meal they offer is breakfast which suits me fine as I needed fuel up in the morning for training. The breakfast costs roughly 1400HUF and I doubt you can get much better in the morning as most places open late. For their breakfasts, they offer bread with a selection of ham and salads or you can opt for an omelette made with cheese and ham. Now, to address the B&B's attentiveness. I made aware that I wanted to travel to Budapest for a day and the staff were extremely helpful. They helped me arrange my trains to get to Budapest and gave me a transfer to the main train station and even helped me buy my return tickets seeing as they speak minimal English in Eger. They also provided guides for Eger when I arrived, highlighting the attractions which they mimicked for Budapest and made my journey a lot more eventful. I also know that this may be small for others, but I queried the hotel Mum on laundry services and she told me it she'd be able to do it the next morning, which was the day I was going Budapest. As you would imagine, I did not have time to hand her my used clothes as i was in a hurry to have breakfast and make the 0904 train to Budapest. To my amazement, I arrived back to the apartment later that day to see all my used clothes washed, dried and neatly folded on my bed. This is what I call going the extra mile and it has not gone unnoticed. The staff's efforts to provide excellent hospitality is second to none and because of them, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Eger and it would be my first choice if i were stay in Eger again. Kosonom!!
