Verno House Budapest, Vignette Collection by IHG

A great hotel in Budapest! We have just checked out today after four nights at the Verno House. We arrived late on Thursday evening and have loved every moment. The hotel is modern and beautifully decorated in the restaurant, the reception, common areas and rooms. The staff are warm and friendly and work really hard to provide great service. The hotel is well staffed and all service is warm and genuine. Our room was cleaned well ever day and our sheets were changed once during our stay too, which feels like a luxury the way hotels have gone since Covid !!!! The hotel very kindly upgraded my reservation to a premium room due to my gold IHG status. I very much appreciated this gesture. The room was huge and had a beautiful view out offer the trees and the square beyond. We were on the third floor, I just wish I was a little higher as the view would be even better :-). The room was well equipped and the bathroom was spacious and had everything you could ever need. There was a minibar, where the soft drinks were free, all other items are chargeable. There is plenty of storage and space. Each room also has a a small Marshall amp/speaker to play music which is a lovely touch. However, it was my biggest issue with the hotel. For three of my four nights my neighbour played music with a heavy baseline which kept me awake until around 2am. I initially didn’t do anything about it as I thought the bass was coming from a neighbouring building. It was only when I eventually listened to patience and went walking the hotel corridor in my boxer shorts that I realised it had been my neg out all along. I called reception and they promptly sorted it out for me. It’s one of those things but I didn’t get a great sleep - apart from my final night. Breakfast was good quality including breads, cheeses, meats , fruit yoghurt etc. you could also order eggs with cooked items like bacon and sausages etc. They served great coffee too!! I just wish they served it a little later than 10.30, maybe until 11 at weekends. I lived the hotel and if I come back to Budapest I will absolutely stay here. It’s a wonderful hotel. I have a few suggestions that can help improve. There are not complaints, as I say we loved our stay. - some larger bath towels, the ones provides seem tiny, I think a hotel of this calibre could have larger towels :-) - like I said perhaps have a later breakfast or Webb brunch option. - get rid of the horrid signs pinned to the curtains telling people the curtains are electric. I appreciate that people may try to pull and break them. Instead could you explain at check in ? The aesthetic is fantastic but it’s ruined by these signs. - perhaps refill the minibar daily, even if it’s chargeable. Similarly please replace teabags etc, this didn’t happen during the stay. Like I said a wonderful gem of a hotel
