Salvia hotel is located at 1250 meters altitude on the mountain of Kamenik, at the north Pintos mountain complex. It is one of seven hostels in the area comprising 130 beds to accommodate visitors, who are attracted to enjoy the unique experience of the only hot steam bath in Europe. The steam emerges from fissures between the mountain rocks, and are directed into a complex of individual cubicals for a thirty minute therapy. The temperature is mild at 37 degrees Celsius, and the certified analysis revealed trace of radion and metals, such as potassium, zing, magnesium. The approach is either from Ioannina (one and half hour driving) or from Thessaloniki, via Egnatia motorway (3 hrs driving). I stayed at the Salvia Hotel for one week and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The place is clean, quite, inexpensive and provides tasty local dishes. The owner, Kostas Ziakos, is extremely kind, friendly and hospitable. The steam bath is an absolute enjoyment, mild and relaxing, amidst the mountain forest, with fantastic view and several hillwalking and climbing opportunities. I highly recommend this place for an unforgettable relaxing experience, both therapeutic and restful relaxation.
