Studio Kamelia

We spent a very happy Christmas and New Year at Finikounda in one of the three Kamelia Studios. The modern studio is extremely clean and equipped with all that is needed for self-catering. The kitchen area has a washing-up sink, fridge/freezer, electric cooker, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, pots and pans, glasses, crockery and cutlery. The bathroom has a WC, walk-in shower and wash basin, with radiator and plentiful hot water. There is even a hair drier, an iron and ironing board. The spacious living room is well furnished with a large double bed, a single bed, a settee, dining table + 3 chairs, coffee table, wardrobe/dressing table, bedside cupboards and lamps. There is an outdoor table and chairs on the veranda, with parking space alongside. The double-glazed windows have insect screens and external shutters. The ever-helpful owners, Kamelia and Nikos, really have thought of everything. The extremely reasonable low-season price included electricity, constant hot water, efficient central heating at the flick of a switch, air-con (for summer), reliable WiFi internet and a television with BBC World and Deutsche Welle in English. Bedding and towels are provided and regular cleaning and a change of linen are all part of the service. The studios are in the garden of the owners’ house, on a quiet lane just a 5-minute walk from the centre of the little fishing village and the beach. The local shops include a couple of small supermarkets, a butcher and a pharmacy, as well as a bank machine for cash. Some of the many tavernas are closed in winter but enough remain open to give a good choice of food within walking distance. There are more shops and restaurants, as well as three splendid Venetian castles to explore, in the towns of Methoni (10 km), Koroni (18 km) and Pylos (20 km). The weather in December/January was mild and dry, perfect for walking the beach or cycling round the quiet country lanes. We can recommend Kamelia Studios as an excellent base for a holiday in summer or winter, with everything provided, friendly unobtrusive hosts and real value for money.
