Socrates Apartments & Restaurant

We stumbled accross this quaint little fishing village Milatos after trying to escape the madness of Heraklion and Chania. We fell in love with it instantly. We were lucky enough to get a one bedroom apartment at Socrates for 2 nights. The rooms are adequate, clean, functional and serviced. We felt they were exceptional value for money compared to other places we stayed. The entire complex is roughly 6-8 rooms and as we found out, are largely rented by long time, returning customers. Our sleep was very restful and we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the area is at night. The staff are fabulous and the fact that it’s a family run restaurant and apartment complex is on display. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was a good one and nothing was too much for them. The food in the taverna was some of the best we’d had in Crete. The fresh fish options are wonderful and reasonably priced. The home cooked specials of the day rivaled my own Greek mothers which is saying a lot. We strongly recommend Socrates Apartments and Taverna.
