Landhotel Zum Kistlerwirt

At first we were concerned that our double room, one of only two remaining when we checked in after 6 p.m., would have traffic noise, being on the side toward the road. That did not matter, however. We slept soundly. The window deadened the sounds perfectly, and it wasn't really necessary to have it open all night. The rather small room was clean and efficiently arranged, with a tidy shower stall in the corner. For this room, the shared toilet facilities were way down the hall, which in our case meant quite a little trot, but no matter. Parking is safe and convenient. The breakfast room is bright and clean, and most inviting, as is the buffet (see the picture on their website). We should point out, however, that we also enjoyed a fabulous evening meal in the adjoining restaurant, seated outside next to the garden. The service is pleasant and helpful. You might find the place (Ostin) rather secluded compared to the towns clustered along the shore of the nearby Tegernsee, but that was fine with us. We took evening and morning walks along the paths and small roads in the area surrounding the little settlement, just a few km. east of Gmünd. There is a Rodelbahn a short walk away that attracts visitors from all over, and there are several interconnecting trails for hiking within easy walking distance from the hotel.
