Landhotel Hitzacker

So, I am not exactly what you would call a “farm person.” I know nothing of the country and especially horses. That being said, it was an amazing experience staying at this hotel for an American seeking a cultural experience in rural Germany. This hotel is run by an amazing family that are as much fun as they are nice. The scenery, food, and ambiance are awesome; and I still am amazing at what a good time I had. The accommodations well exceeded my idea of a 3 star establishment. And I was not surprised to find out how many people form attachments to this place and come back year after year. What did surprise me, is that this is a hidden gem from the American and British market, which when you are in Germany - trying to find a hotel run by staff that speaks English is a challenge. It was kind of like taking a step back in time, disengaging from my daily technology buzz, and focusing on health and well-being (The property features opportunities for guests to do juice fasts or indulge in vegan cuisine). I walked away with a new sense of calm and a desire to return to family - the ones I have at home and the new one I made.
