Hotel zur Krone

My family stayed here for one night on what was supposed to be a bicycle tour (but ended up being a car tour with bicycles in the trailer because of various unexpected problems). Cons: The hotel is somewhat older. The hotel is directly on the street. The rooms are on the smallish side. Pros: The hotel was clean and well-maintained. Dinner and breakfast were good hearty traditional German meals made fresh and with high quality ingredients. I don't think I've ever tasted Spätzle that good. (The food is not adventurous which will be a plus for some people and a minus for others.) The hotel has very helpful, well-organized, friendly personnel. The hotel is directly on the Kyll bicycle route and is easy to find. The hotel also has a private fishing stretch of the Kyll (which we didn't try out since we don't fish). After a walk up to see the ice caves, my two children both had ticks. They were small enough that the tick card I had in my wallet wasn't working, so my husband went down to the counter to ask where the closest pharmacy was -- the owner of the hotel turned around and grabbed a pair of tick tweezers right behind him and offered it to us. All our other wishes small and large, unusual and ordinary, were attended to with similar discretion, efficiency, and friendliness.
