I am walking the Via Francigena and not looking for fancy accommodation. My room at Hotel Le Morteau has all I need. Clean. Comfortable bed. Good shower. I ate in the restaurant and had the most fabulous dinner. Potato gratin for starters (much fancier name in French) and lamb shank for dinner. The waitress matched the food with a wonderful local wine. The restaurant has about 20 tables and most were occupied. Given quality of food and price, I am not surprised. The waitress is terrific. Speaks some English and running the restaurant, bar and hotel single handed. After a long day walking, I will go to bed well satiated on delicious food.
