We stayed in a small hotel 3 minutes walk from this little auberge and the owner of the hotel recommended this restaurant. We chose the 3 course menu but with all the little extra we got it was a lot more. Everything was absolutely delicious. First we had some small appies like olives and spicy popcorns. Really spicy but the popcorns were a little too soft. Then we had another surprise appetizer - a salmon mousse that was delicious. My starter was a perfectly soft foie gras and my husband has a very interesting starter with hazelnut covered snail skewers. Then as a main dish I chose the trio of lamb - lamb chop, lamb skewer and lamb stew wrapped in eggplants. Absolutely delicious. My husband’s beef tenderloin was perfect, filled with tomatoes and mozzarella. As if this wasn’t enough we then had a pré - dessert before the real dessert and then coffee with gourmandises. To make it even more perfect the waiter recommended a gorgeous wine. Domaine de Maby. We are going there tomorrow to buy some wine. The food and the wine were top class, almost Guide Michelin quality. The only problem was that the portions were enormous and it was such a lot of food that we still feel like python snakes that are trying to digest an antelope, but I can live with that. If you are in Tavel - don’t miss this little gem.
