Kimpton St Honoré Paris 

My recent trip to Paris was initially built around going to see a show at the Olympia, so I focussed on Hotels which were walkable to/ from there. After reading the range of reviews, it felt like the Kimpton St Honoré was the obvious choice .. and wow, .. not only did it deliver, it exceeded expectations tenfold. From the moment of stepping out of the taxi, we were met with the beaming smile and help of Damien - and further welcomed by the exceptional Pilar and Rachel (whom I’m going to lobby daily for the role of their new best friend - whether they want me to be or not!). I had not travelled to Paris for some years - and certainly never encountered this extension of warmth in any previous hotel there. We were given their generous time and attention and all of the information we needed at check in (plus the history of the building - which really set the atmosphere). Our rooms were spotlessly clean and incredibly well equipped; mine had triple aspect views overlooking the Opera House, Eiffel Tower .. and the Olympia venue itself. And as the saying goes ..location, location, location : the Opera Garnier is just a few minutes walk - as are Galleries Layfayette. A few minutes further in either direction and you’re at Place Vendome or The Louvre. A walk to Musee D’Orsay only took us 15-20 mins from the Hotel; the Picasso Musuem took around 45 mins. If you want to spend some serious euros .. pretty much all of the designer shops are also on the doorstep. We didn’t have the chance to eat at the restaurant as we were out in the evenings, but we enjoyed the lovely breakfast buffet - and there is a very generous Social Hour between 5-6pm in the Hotel Bar (great wine and a friendly service). I wanted to visit the spa as it looked beautiful .. but ironically .. ended up with too busy a weekend to remember to actually exhale .. exactly the reason to visit the spa! However .. it’s definitely on my must-do list for the return visit .. We were given a personalised tour of the Gibson guitar room - which actually took our breath away. If you then further add DJs playing across the weekend evenings in the bar - and a dog friendly brunch on the Sunday .. plus the offering of courtesy bicycles; umbrellas; coffee and muffins in the lobby when we checked out .. the gift of Kimpton St Honoré just kept on giving from the beginning, to the end of our stay. Thank you to the whole team for making my long awaited return visit to Paris such a special and memorable experience; I could not be more thankful - and cannot recommend this Hotel - and all concerned, highly enough.
