Appartement Arcade

We are celebrating 28 years of marriage in Paris. A family member recommended L’Arcade and they were absolutely right. This is a clean, friendly and intimate place located on a side street just off Rue Royale/Rue de Madeleine. Rather than booking just a room, we suggest an “apartment” which has a separate sitting area with a desk, tv monitor, and kitchenette. (You will be glad for the extra space.) The bathroom was on the large side with a tub AND a separate shower. The toilet has is own separate room. A simple, semi-self-serve breakfast area is just off the lobby; it is attended by a lovely woman. Nice china, fruits, breads (with toaster), yogurt, pastries, cold cuts, and cheese. Madame will bring you coffee or tea, as you request. You can pay for breakfasts upon your initial arrival at the hotel, but that is not required nor expected. We ate there a couple of times for convenience, but usually explored the breakfast menus at nearby bistros. You cannot get lunch or dinner here, but there are plenty of good places within walking distance. Ask for recommendations from the helpful staff. L’Arcade’s sister hotel is The Bedford, which is a very short walk just down the sidewalk. We only ate breakfast there once. Nice buffet. My husband said the scrambled eggs were the best he ever had. (Full breakfast buffet cost $21 euros per person, but if you are only having coffee/tea and a pastry, expect to pay less...just check out the menu before you step up to the buffet. We did not eat lunch or dinners here. The dining room is very beautiful and whether you eat here or not, it!s worth a look. The l’Arcade is an easy walk to the Metro and to bus stops, but we primarily relied upon Uber, which was a quick and efficient way to get around. (None of our drivers spoke much English, but with the App, that really did not matter.)Taxi rides to and from airports might be a better option than Uber as the taxis have designated areas to pick up and drop off that we don’t think Uber has.Taxis also use the bus lanes, which are forbidden to Uber drivers. The bus lanes provide a quicker ride. We highly recommend L’Arcade for it cleanliness, congeniality and great location.
