We decided to stay at the Chez Marion for 2 nights,rather than in Caen,as its better value for money. The hotel is close to the Merville sea front and lovely beach,and the town itself is pretty,with nicely laid out flowers,and more modern than most towns in the area. Not much to do though,but its nice enough walking about. The hotel owner gave us a nice welcome,and our room was spendidly clean and even had a kettle and tea/coffee,which is unusual for France! Parking is right outside and completely safe. Breakfast is the normal french,but with some lovely ham slices,and all the food was of good quality. We didnt eat in the restaurant as we were out,but the smell of fish and the quality of the decor showed that it was a good place for eating.We did glance at the prices,and it looked a bit expensive.There are a few places to eat in the town,but not a great choice,and of course,it being a seaside town,fish and shellfish/mussels etc featured highly on the menus! The hotel is highly reccomended though.
