We were very pleased to discover this hotel for our stay in 2023, especially after a mediocre experience in 4 and 5-star hotels in Courchevel and Val d'Isere. The staff were superb. We will definitely return.

What a wonderful hotel! I travelled with my family to Meribel for a ski trip. We had the best stay at Le Grand Coeur. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was incredible and the location was perfect. The hotel is just above the centre of Meribel and there are steps outside allowing you to easily reach the town centre in just a few minutes. However the hotel is so quiet you would have no idea the centre is so close! The hotel is ski-in-ski-out which is perfect and is easily accessible via a blue run.

Our rooms had a lovely terrace that got the sun and great views of the pistes above Chaudanne. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms were a good size and equipped with all the amenities you could want (including robes and slippers). 

We ate dinner at the hotel one evening a long with breakfast daily. The evening food was spectacular and very inventive. The breakfast selection was delicious and covered everything we could wish for. The bar area was very relaxing and we were well looked after every evening by the lovely bar staff. 

The spa was great at the hotel, especially the jacuzzi. There is also a games room with a table football table, pinball machine and PS5 if you have kids.

Highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a luxurious and relaxing stay in the heart of Meribel. Thank you to all the wonderful staff who looked after us during our stay. We will be back again!

We have a small apartment up at Rond Point and spend much of the ski season there. From time to time our children visit with their friends and we escape to one of the better 3Vs hotels.  In Méribel Le Grand Cœur has been our favourite - we have stayed here twice under the old regime. This visit was just for cocktails so we could assess the changes following the Ruchti’s retirement.  To our relief the refurbishment has been done most sympathetically, the spa revitalised and the relaxed but professional atmosphere maintained. Combined with the perfect ski in ski out location with a very short walk to the town centre, Le Grand Cœur maintains its favourite status (no, following a visit we haven’t been tempted by the new 5 star Coucou!).

Amazing service. Very small rooms but comfortable. Great bar and other areas.Ski in and out with lockers and drying machines. Great terrace for drinks and meals. Limited parking - but valet very helpful in helping with parking

The hotel was recommended to us by close friends who are regulars at the hotel. It  is just lovely. 
Our bedroom facing the mountain was quiet and beautiful. The hotel facilities are great, the gym and spa perfect. What makes this hotel is it’s fantastic staff. In particular Pascal, Olivier and Alex who all went out of their way over our week stay to ensure we had everything we needed. They made us feel like family members returning home. The ski in ski out facility also makes this hotel an absolute win and we will be back.

I have been using this hotel in the skiing season for over twenty years 
Their Standards and food continues to be exceptional 
Very clean everywhere smiley staff and a great pre dinner bar which also offers teas in the afternoon 
Watch out for the desserts trolley if you don’t want to put on weight
They have an excellent restaurant and a good Sommelier in charge of the wines on offer
The Skiing is ski in and out which is the icing on the cake

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Overall, it's a pretty solid hotel, but it's probably not worth the price and it certainly doesn't live up to the standards of other Relais and Chateaux properties. 

Pros: 
The location is great. Good ski in and ski out access and centrally located in Meribel (you can walk to many shops and restaurants quickly). 
The bar is lovely, but expensive. 
The staff is helpful and nice. 
Breakfast selection is huge. 
Our room was newly renovated and nice. 

Cons: 
Hallways (and apparently some rooms) could use some updating. 
The ski locker area could use a refresh as well. It's close to the indoor hot tub and is humid and smells like a pool in the ski locker room. 
Overall just not up to the standards of a 800-900 euro per night hotel. 
Not really a con, but this hotel lacks the specialness and "wow" factor that many Relais and Chateaux have.

Grand coeur

Stopped into the bar for a coffee and tea while having a wander around the area before heading out to the slopes. Service was very good and staff were welcoming. Almost a bit over the top though, and felt like we were being interrogated with 4 different people taking care of us before we even received our order. 
Anyway, beautiful view from comfy sofas in the bar. After our drinks and croissants, we were informed that American and UK credit cards would not be accepted by the hotel owner. We were instructed to go and get cash to pay for drinks and croissants. 
I suspect the hotel didn’t want to pay the credit card service fee for a small order.
And the coffee was just from a nespresso maker so nothing special. And tea with lemon was €12.00!

Fabulous service and bar area but prices not on par with quality

This is a restaurant review not of the hotel. We have eaten here quite a lot while skiing in and around Méribel-Mottaret and it is an amazing experience with the sumptuous surroundings and amazing food. 

This time was not so good though as I have become fully vegetarian since our last visit and there was only one dish on the menu that I could eat and I wasn’t sure if that was ‘fully’ vegetarian really as we are in France and they don’t really understand why you wouldn’t eat meat or fish in this country of amazing cuisine! The service staff when taking our order offered me some cooked vegetables with mash potatoes but I decided to compromise and eat one of the fish dishes that seemed the most sustainable.

The food and wine were fantastic but I hope they begin to come into the modern world and put choices on their menu for everyone.
