Hotel La Grande Eperviere

A really nice family run hotel. It’s not the most modern hotel but everything works fine. The rooms are big and the important things, bed and shower are excellent. Breakfast is excellent with enough choice for everyone. Good bike garage too. Family run and the hosts can’t do enough to help you. 

Spent a couple of nights in this quiet, friendly, family-run hotel in Barcelonette. Free parking was handy and a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. Good breakfast. Five min walk into the centre of this pretty town. Easy drive to beautiful hikes (look out for the marmots!!). Owners friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.

A lovely hotel 10 minutes walk from the town centre.Room was large and comfortable, view from the balcony was good, we were on the ground floor so the higher floor views would be better. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Wish we had stayed more than one night.

This is a hotel annexed to what are called "villas mexicaines". Barcelonnette has a history of entrepreneurs making a fortune in the americas and then returning with their wealth to their roots.

Nothing luxurious about the hotel, but it is a solid value and is family run. Unlike many other hotels you could name. By French standards the breakfast was particularly good.

Clean, comfortable, what else do you need? 

We initially drove past the hotel as the sign does not show the name clearly.
The rooms seem a little tired, but the common areas are really interesting. The owner was concerned that we did not park under the trees as we may get something falling on the cars. They had booked a meal in town for us (a very short walk) and arranged a discount. Breakfast was adequate and we were offered the leftovers to take with us.
When we left, the family came out to see us off. We felt as if we had been visiting friends.
I would definitely stay there again

We had a wonderful one night stay to ski in Praloup.The owner was very welcoming on arrival. The rooms were clean. The view was fantastic. 

The town of Barcelonnette is also quaint with good butchers and bakeries. It's a 10 minute drive to the ski resort of Praloup and is more interesting.

Rooms are 'so-so', but the welcome is pleasant, the breakfast good, and it provides free parking and internet. It's a 400metres walk into the attractive town centre. Owner is happy to give you tips on local restaurants. Beautiful mountainous surroundings.

Only stayed for one night, but we were made to feel very welcome. Room and bathroom was pleasantly decorated with a friendly feel and had lovely views from the front and back or the hotel. Good choice of breakfast although would have liked more than the one Croissant supplied. Barcelonnette village square was beautiful with a good choice of shops and places to eat and just a 10 minute walk away

At the heart of the Grande Route des Alpes is Barcelonnette, a small town which makes a good stop off. About 5 minutes walk from the centre, this hotel has its own parking and is in the process of being modernised.  The public rooms are a little dated but the breakfast buffet was varied and tasty.  Our room was a good size and very clean. The decor  is a little dated in both the bedroom and the bathroom (pine furniture, colourful tiles). However, the location is quiet with great views and we had a very good night's sleep in the comfortable bed.

Traditional Family-run Hotel

This hotel was very dated and there are no real creature comforts. The metal gate across reception at 8pm gave a clear message that it was a functional hotel only. The staff were not customer friendly, just doing a job. Value for money was poor in my view.

The car park was good however and the WiFi worked.

I’m afraid I wouldn’t stay again.
