Chez l'Autre

We stayed here en route home to the UK. What an exceptional place this is. We travelled for what seemed ages, through twisty roads and almost alpine scenary. Chilac is a mediaval village, perched up high in the heart of the countryside. Finding our B & B was not easy as it is tucked away up a very narrow street. Our hosts could not have been more welcoing. Armelle and her daughter supplied us with a very welcome cold beer and showed us to our lovely room, tucked away up in the roof. A very comfortable bed and en-suite bathroom were perfect. We had dinner with Armelle, Bernard and Louise, that evening and what a meal we had. Armelle really does cook wondefully well and the food was delicious. We sat in the courtyard and chatted the night away. Bernard was a journalist in another life and is a most interesting host. The evening was an absolute pleasure. Breakfast the next morning was perfect and we were sorry to go and would like to have stayed longer. There is much to explore in this region and we would highly recommend taking the time to find this gem of a place. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts so a very, very big thank you to them for all that they did for us. This B & B is exceptional value for money.
