Hotel Amazonia

The hotel is centrally located and the staff are great, they speak fluent English. Our room was very comfortable and it had a balcony which was too small to use. The bathroom is very spacious too and a safe for our passports is another plus. Free breakfast included and the pool was a godsend in this humid weather.

I was staying at another place, but it did not have a full time reception desk, and so that made it tough, as FG is a place where you need as much assistance as you can get, especially if you are an English speaking tourist with close to no French speaking abilities. Even the main tourist office does not have English speaking staff. But walking around I came across this clean, stylish and  centrally located hotel that was a god send as they have front desk staff who can speak English. Unfortunately the hotel seems to cater to a business  crowd and so their tourist related assistance was limited, but they did help as best they could, including helping me to get  share taxi back to the Suriname border :) As for the hotel, all the common amenities are excellent, including a nice pool to dip into, which is appreciated when the temp is 95 F. And the breakfast buffet has everything you could ask for and it opens up early, at 6 AM. Only negative is that the room was tiny, at least the one that I was in, and so the king size bed basically took up the whole room. But then as a tourist you are not there to hang out in your hotel room.

Couldn't be happier

A Great Find for an English Speaking Tourist

The location is simply GREAT ...you’ve got access to nice restaurants and food trucks! There are stores all around you. But the hotel needs a facelift! First, I had problems logging into their WiFi. The front desk helped for a couple of seconds and then told me that I could not log onto WiFi, because there was an issue with all iPhones. There was no one at the desk at the time. Finally a random person in the lobby helped me through the tricky login. Next, the stations at breakfast were not stocked. I had to sit in the restaurant for 2 hours to get the basics. Finally, I went down for a glass of wine at about 9pm ...it advertised a later closing time. 

The beds were soft and the chairs in the room resembled the plastic chairs used outside. But it was very clean.

I would stay there again, but with extremely low expectations.

Location is Good but the Hotel....

I had once a customer event in Hotel Amazonia. Its location in Cayenne city center not far from the airport is quite convenient. 
We had a good time under a large canopy by the swimming pool. A buffet style dinner was served : various salads, finger sandwiches, fish and meat skewers, plus some local specialties like cod ceviche, feroce d’avocat with Cayenne pepper or colombo. And tropical fruits of course. Servers were friendly. 
Not fancy but done deal.


Done deal

Functional if there is nowhere else to stay. Shabby, a bit dirty, "down to the minimum" rather than "up to  a standard". I noted that this is no longer Best Western branded, presumably because they didn't want to pay the franchise fee and be held to standards. The reality is nothing like the photos. Avoid.

Only if you need to be central and all other options are exhausted

Correct hotel, great location for visiting Cayenne, breakfast was correct, fresh fruit was a plus, rooms were convenient. Good for business travelers, would not recommend this place for a holiday though. 

Great location 

Small room with all amenities including kettle tea and coffee. Free wi-fi with. renew password connection each time you live your room. Faucet liking. Small swimming pool.average dinner .the good is the location.

Poor maintenance

Whilst in a good location the beds in this hotel were too soft andrather narrow, with silly square pillows. This  made for an uncomfortable nights Sleep. Staff helpful and reception comfortable. Good breakfast.
