Fantastic
1425 reviewsIf I could define how it feels to stay at Likuliku the first thing that comes to mind is that it feels like a warm and friendly embrace. Everything from the natural setting, the comfort of the rooms, the delicious food, but specially the kindness and friendliness of the staff makes it the stuff which dreams are made of. To get there, I suggest you arrange a transfer with South Sea Cruises on their direct ferry service from Port Denarau. They pick you up from Nadi airport in a bus, take you to the port and then on the ferry to the resort. The ferry is quite comfortable. We celebrated our 25th anniversary here and as gay couple (male) we tend to be worried about how people are going to treat us. Those fears dissolved within seconds of arriving. Everyone treated us almost like family, learned our names by the second day and sang us a lovely anniversary song during one of our dinners. We stayed in one of the overwater bures (#4) and the views of the sunset and the multitude of sea creatures were enchanting. The bures are ample, rich with effortless elegance while preserving and authentic Fijian feel. This is how luxury should be done. You don’t feel like in a cookie cutter chain hotel at all. The other big feature of the stay is THE FOOD! Every meal is an event, three courses and the menu varies daily. If you want something simpler you can have lunch at the pool, but all the other meals are in the restaurants. Some people may be bothered that there is no room service…well if that’s important to you, stay at a Marriott (I recommend you still try Likuliku because your vacation should feel like an event!) Still, they will deliver delicious canapés, a fruit platter, Fiji water and fresh cookies every afternoon. The food is included which makes it a real good value when you compare it to Four Seasons or any of those clones. Beverages are not included but the prices are reasonable and quality is great. Special mention to the new restaurant, Saluwaki. It has nothing to envy the best Michelin star restaurants of any big city! All in a very exclusive, chill and not crowded ambiance. The infinity pool is relatively small, but beautifully laid out. It never felt crowded. The pool service was as great as everything else in the resort. There are plenty of activities you can book (hiking trips, a honeymoon private island, snorkeling trips, village trips) and complimentary snorkeling and kayaking. The reef is perfect for snorkeling and the hotel has a foundation helping restore the coral and the iguana population. We did not use the spa but I did use the gym and it was well equipped. Some of the rooms are distant, but you can easily call reception to have someone pick you up in a little golf cart to go to eat your meals or whatever you need. They are quick and very responsive. Tipping is not mandatory, but the staff has a box labeled “staff fund” to which you can contribute. And they fully deserve it! I really hope we can go back in a not so distant future. It’s not cheap but worth every single penny!
