Great hotel for me as a solo traveller. I stayed for two days. The hotel is excellent comparing to the price. Very helpful staff. Beautiful bunna girl in the ground floor makes traditional tasty coffee. The reception staff can arrange trips to Tana Lake or waterfalls. I have enjoyed my stay there. I will definitely be back.

I have been to Bahir Dar three times on business for a couple of weeks each time.  I have not stayed in the Papyrus but use the meeting rooms and eat lunch there every day.

The food is excellent.  There are nice gardens, a traditional restaurand and a couple of nice bars, one beside the swimming pool.  The last time I was there the university were holding a swimming competition at the pool. What I have seen of the hotel is very clean.  It is not as upmarket / luxurious as the Avanti Blue Nile but is a really nice hotel.

I stayed here with two Ethiopian colleagues for a few nights in November. We were well treated by the receptionist and other staff and the romms were good and reasonably well maintained. The restaurant was also good.

Rather good hotel for the price

Located at the circulation junction of Route 31 and Arba Meter road, the hotel is on the south side of Arba Meter 100m away from the Addis Amba hotel. The Papyrus' building has commercial spaces that accommodate a fine chemist and a small supermarket as well as a clothes shop.
The hotel is 1 of 2 in Bahir Dar that has a swimming-pool. Across the pool, diagonally opposite the hotel entrance, is the popular outside seating area of the hotel's restaurant. The output from the kitchens is fairly standard with a range of injera dishes.
Hardly surprising, the poolside restaurant is a popular venue for wedding events - the one pictured was of a cake cutting ceremony of an Ethiopian couple living in California, hence the contrasting cultural styles of attire.

Shocking! We were picked up from the airport and arrived 20 mins later. The people are nice at this small hotel. When we were walking to our rooms we passed the "famous swimming pool' it was green water!- you could not see the bottom.
The rooms were tiny and the door was made of plywood. the cupboards were flimsy and did not shut. in the bedside draw there was an open condom box!
The bathroom was indescribable- small- the shower was a nozzle and the base comprised of 8 tiles- no curtain and the toilet was right next to it.
I lasted 3 minutes- when exiting I noticed feral cats roaming the corridors!
