Mallki Hostel

Nice hostel, great location, facilities, people, location. First hot shower I have had in months! The hostel is a great bargain, I am currently staying my second week. There are activities to do like barbecues, sing-a-longs (if you play guitar)! Bicycle riding. If you have never been to Cuenca, lots of history and flowers, interesting architecture, plus rivers!

Stayed at this hostel for 10 days, the staff were very lovely has a full service kitchen. The dorms have comfortable beds and the rooms were pretty big. The showers were always hot also. Would recommend to anyone.

This is a very cosy hostel and i immediatly felt at home! The owners are lovely people and will provide you with many good recommendations. There is a well equipped kitchen and the dorm is spacious and has curtains for extra privacy. I would definitly stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone!

This is a very cozy hostel with a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was knowledgable and friendly, and the private room was spacious and clean. They served a delicious breakfast every morning, but it took a long time to get our food. The hostel is in a nice, quiet location just a short walk from the main parts of the city.

This is a great hostel for backpackers. The prices are right, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are very awesome. Had a great time at this hostel. Andreas helped us plan our trip to the cajas park. Many places to relax at the hostel. Free breakfast was quite nice.

I really recommend this hostel for any traveler who visits Cuenca.

Breakfast (pancakes with strawberries) is great. The receptionist (can’t remember her name) was really welcoming and helpful; likewise was the owner of the hostel (for spot recommendations).

Common areas are very chill and cool.

The only downside I would remark is that showers don’t provide as much hot water as one would expect (they should get this fixed!)

I loved my time in this friendly little hostel. The 5bed dorm with pods was nice and spacious and offered some privacy and big lockers. Free breakfast was great - pancakes and fresh fruit. Staff and volunteers were very helpful and kind. The facilities weren't the best (small kitchen, not many bathrooms) but for the price you pay it's great value. Good location, near the city centre.

For the price, this can't be beat. Dorm beds were average, breakfast was tasty pancakes everyday with a banana. The manager, Andrés is extremely knowledgeable and helped plan my visit. His staff are all super friendly and easy to chat with. The location is excellent and a 5 minute walk to Calle Larga. Rooms had lockers under the bed. Could use more outlets by each bed, and the shower head was a bit low for a tall person, but otherwise a great place to spend a few days and rest up while seeing the region. 

Basic accommodation but the hot showers were good (much better than in similar places where they have these electrical devices). Cosy ambience with fresh flowers in the staircase and a small library. Nice breakfast prepared with care. Good location near the historical center and close to the rivers. Friendly owners who do their best to help out.

Disliked · Creaking bunk bed frames and no curtain to keep the street light out of the room. Beds could be more spacious and comfortable, though they do have individual headlamps and a curtain at one side for more privacy.

Nothing short of a good experience here. Location is good - it's just outside the hill of the old city/central part of town, less than 5 minutes walking. Most of the hostels are inside the center but I really enjoyed being outside because you can interact with the local residential area more. The hostel is very relaxed and calming - theres some common areas downstairs and upstairs to soak in some sunshine and hang out. I stayed in several rooms -- the private room and the 5-bed dorm were very clean and comfy, but the 8-bed dorm right next to the reception desk was a bit dirty and the beds were quite difficult to climb/poorly designed. But it was only that room. 

The staff are what really do it for me, though. They were very kind, helpful, and considerate. I really enjoyed interacting with them and always got the help I needed.

The only thing that might be a bit of a turn-off is that it can be quite loud sometimes - not in a party hostel kind of way, but the doors are very thin so you can hear a lot. As previous reviews have said, there are some volunteers working there and I believe they were the ones that would be talking very loudly outside my door until around 11pm and keeping myself and others from sleeping.
