Just a short sentimental note that after decades of running the hotel my father lost his battle to cancer. Apologising if in the last times the hotel was perhaps not up to scratch for some clients.   The hotel is closed since January when he passed away. Thank you to everyone that stayed and enjoyed being at Los Alpes.  Clients were always very special to us. Thank you to those that kept returning time after time. The hotel is for sale at the moment so if you fancy an adventure in Quito and bringing the place back to life this is a very good business with lots of memories to make.

Stayed here on the recommendation of a friend who said it was his favorite hotel in Quito. I can see why. It's quaint as quaint gets, with well appointed rooms and a couple of very comfortable lounge areas downstairs. Good breakfast. The family that runs the place also lives there. Three generations. Do it. Also a feat value. I got a room for $55/night (in cash). 

This very warm and welcoming family business is ideal for the budget traveler, with a group, or family. It's cozy and pretty well located. The neighborhood is quite and right next to a museum and artisan market. Not a lot of restaurants in the area, though. Each room has character, breakfast is freshly made, and the proprietors are delightful. They provided excellent recommendations for activities in the area. I LOVE the sunroom upstairs.

Somebody said it's the best hotel in Quito.  It is far more memorable than a mega-chain hotel.  The folks running the place seem to have been around & doing this for a couple decades.  It's more the feel of a B & B than a hotel.  Personal, warm, historic, ....almost a place that feels like you're visiting your grandparents.

Quiet!   Never expected such a peaceful neighborhood in the middle of one of the biggest cities in South America...but what a peaceful place to just hang out or sleep.  Also, within easy walking distance of a beautiful park, several bus lines, and of course, not to forget, Foch Plaza.  It's not super elegant, but the place oozes character.

My husband and I booked this hotel after reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor. We prefer to stay in privately owned hotel, smaller boutique hotels as opposed to large chains. Our room was at the front of the hotel and very noisy. Barking dogs, alarms going off next door at all hours of the day and night. The room had old mismatched linens on the bed, curtains that were literally pieces of material that barely covered the windows and only one working electrical outlet. Only one light bulb was in the overhead light fixture. The bathroom tile was full of mold and mildew and the tub leaked at the floor into a makeshift drain. There was no working electrical outlet in bathroom. We had also read that dinner arrangements could be made in the dinning room but were informed by the owner that he no longer provided that service. This property is now up for sale as the owner is elderly and obviously does not intent to do any maintenance. I do not understand why anyone would give this place an outstanding review. We did not expect the Ritz but a comfortable, clean,  and quiet hotel and this place isn't it!!!!
