Bird Garden Guest House

Very comfortable, clean, simple room and bath on a quiet street in Mariscal neighborhood. Nice terrace was great for resting and watching hummingbirds after exploring museums and shopping at Mercato Artisanal. It is run by the delightful Elena who helped me get over a reaction to the altitude with a delicious soup. She and the owner, an expert bird guide, gave me good restaurant advice and generally made sure I felt at home here. Definitely would go back to this Hostal!

It was my first time in Ecuador, this was the first place we stayed after our arrival. The room is clean and comfortable. Even though we only stayed one night, I would have stay there longer. I enjoyed the breakfast which was freshly made and tasted delicious. The lady that was in charged was friendly and always has a smile when she sees you., She made you feel like a member of her family. I would recommend this place for business or family vacation.

The Bird Garden Guest House is a lovely retreat in Quito. Communication was very good and included support for airport transfers, local tours, and suggestions for local dining within walking distance (e.g., Achiote, Miskay). My room was clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced.  Beautiful photos of birds decorate the walls. Elena is a gracious host and a fabulous cook. Breakfast includes delicious local juices, fruits, and eggs, cooked to order. The outdoor, second floor patio is lovely with blooming plants and sparkling violetear hummingbirds flitting around. I highly recommend a stay at Bird Garden!

Great price. Friendly staff who go out of your way to help. Very knowledgeable re local things to do. Great birding trip opportunities. Clean rooms and excellent breakfasts - even prepared extremely early if needed for an early departure. Highly recommend!

What a gem this place is! Doña Elena is a superlative host: warm, welcoming, attentive. She goes out of her way to make her guests feel at home, whether that’s carrying breakfast (different each day) up to the flower-filled terrace, providing informed advice on destinations, calling you a car, even making you dinner, on request. I honestly can’t say enough good things about her hospitality. 
The guest house itself is spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, shower was hot, and the location is convenient for exploring the city. In contrast to other places I’ve stayed in Quito, the Wifi was reliable & worked well. And the price is more than reasonable. 
(If you stay, do check out the charming cafe/bookstore, El Farol, on the corner.)

The guest house was such a home. Sweet attention. Receptionist is great and sweet person. Very helpful. Delicious breafast and dinner as well. Great location. Rooms are a bit tiny. Water has good pressure. Late check out free if charge for my group of 9 person. Good for money.

This place is great! I stayed here one night and would definitely return next time. Everyone who works here is super kind. I had breakfast in the morning and the food was excellent, and my room was airy and clean.

This was the first part of my student travel trip to Ecuador, and what an amazing place to be in. I was blown away by the beauty, cleanliness, and most of all, friendliness that flooded the whole establishment. Everyone there is fantastic, so great!

Wonderful guest house. Charming yet sober reception rooms. Our hostess cooked us fresh and healthy breakfast every day and informed regularly and sincerely about our wellbeing and activities. The bird pictures set a colourful  and lively atmosphere throughout the guest house, which was spotless.

We stayed in Bird Garden Guest House for 2 days. It was a starting point for a trip to a hiking tour in the Cotopaxi-Antisana region. 
Helenita, the hostel warden, received as very friendly with a nice, hand-made juice. 
From the hostel it is no problem to explore the city center by walk, bus or taxi. Also there are ATMs, bakeries, shops, pharmacies nearby. The hostel has a nice roof-top terrace, and fresh breakfast is served in the time requested.
Unfortunately, we had to stop the hiking tour before the time as our younger daughter had a stomach infection. Helenita could arrange 2 rooms for us spontaneously. She also supported us to obtain medicine in the pharmacy and was cooking soup and porridge for our sick daughter.
For above reasons I can recommend this hostel to other travelers.
