Hotel Restaurant Modrá Hvězda

I booked this place for my husband and here is what he has written about it: "The Hotel Modrá Hvězda, situated right on the main square of Dobřany, was a welcoming place. In truth, in such a rural location, there was not much English spoken, but the manageress and the barmaid both had patience with my somewhat hesitant Czech and I was soon checked in and shown to my simple, but spotlessly presented room. The number of rooms was surprisingly large and, where I was staying was actually above the building next door. Admittedly, it was out of season, but I thought that what I got represented excellent value for money and I had a beautiful view of the illuminated town square from my window. The downstairs was both a bar and a restaurant and, for once, I half-regretted having had a meal before I set off because all the food looked delicious. The tables were all crowded and the plates were going back empty! As there is a brewery on the premises, there was a large selection of beers available. Some of these were VERY strong. I tried the Dobřanská Hvězda 12 degree beer and it was excellent. I slept well in my comfortable bed which had a point winning firm pillow. Because I had to leave quite early, the manageress started breakfast half an hour early, so I could have some before I left. It was a simple, but filling combination of the usual “continental”, nicely presented and tasty. I was also provided with properly boiling water for my tea bag, which always earns a bonus point with me. It was a nice little place and I already know where I will be staying next year!"
