Villa Rancho Hatuey

I only stayed one night  here,but would like to have stayed longer.The acommodation was in 2 storey buildings in the grounds,and  was clean and modern.Our meals were very good and the staff were friendly .In the evening,they put on a Magic show for guests,which was very entertaining.

Surprisingly better than anticipated , having stayed in various "5 Star" Cuban hotels this little gem has been the best,very friendly welcome,clean good sized clean rooms passionate staff friendly helpful...food pretty good served hot , not the best but very acceptable...excellent for a stopover

Very friendly hotel

Stopover

Just a one night stopover.
Accommodation is in blocks in landscaped gardens and it all looks rather nice. Inside the accommodation is another matter. The zircon was problematic, it would have helped if the controller worked properly. No water in the morning, had to wait 20 minutes for it to come through. The room itself was rather run down and needed refurbishment.
No internet.
The dinner and breakfast buffets were typical Cuban cuisine but were perfectly reasonable in terms of choice and quality.

Won't rush back

We visited Villa Rancho Hatuey for an overnight stop on the Saga Viva Cuba tour.  

It was perfectly adequate but not stunning.  Our room was in a block about 100 metres from reception which was a bit tricky when it was raining.  But the room was fine, clean, beds comfortable, no mosquitoes and everything worked.  

We arrived just in time for a swim.  The water was fine but the edge of the inside of the pool at the waterline was disgustingly dirty. 

Food was fine - a typical Cuban buffet - so edible if not outstanding. 

The internet wasn't working - the worst connection experience on the tour. 

It did its job as a stopover but I wouldn't rush to go back.

Adequate but not stunning for an overnight stop.

Quite a pleasant room and location.  Very good evening entertainment provided.  Small hotel and dining room which provided good food - if not limited.  Rooms were nice in a rural location.  Quite enjoyed my stay there.  

Part of Saga trip to Cuba

Rooms are in small blocks of 2 or 4.  Very basic and quite small but they are fairly clean.  Food far very basic, dining room cramped, most staff have very little English, but are still willing to help. Definitely not higher than it's 2* rating.

Basic hotel

I was a solo traveller on the Saga Viva Cuba and was aware before travelling that standards were not as high as we have come to expect. Of all the hotels we stayed in, half of which were extremely poor, this one for me at least was the worse. Along with other solo passengers I was placed in accommodation which was quite different from that given to the rest of the group including the (solo) guides. The room was in a block that looked as though it may have been staff quarters. It had curtains only partly covered the window which overlooked the car park, there was no fridge, no wardrobe, no plugs for basin or bath, used soap in the bathroom, it was dirty and what was infinitely worse there were specs of blood on the bedsheet. We saw the rooms given to everyone else and they were perfectly acceptable as indeed was the rest of the hotel.
