Shangchao International Youth Hostel

This place goes beyond words. Everyone here is kind and inviting. The location is perfect for shopping and sightseeing. It is walking distance from the high speed train station, just follow the river towards the Eye of Tianjin. This hostel is tucked away inside a private and commercial high-rise. So when you pull up to the curb look for the Tianjin Planning Exhibition Hall. The high-rise is across the street. Head towards the small convenience stores at the base of the high-rise and go around the corner towards the river. There is an entrance to a beautiful lobby just before the Four Seasons hotel. You will need to take the elevator to the 14th floor and then follow the directions to No. 1413. We had a wonderful stay of two weeks and at first we started out in the 8 bedroom dorms. Upon arriving we noticed they have only one private bed with ensuite and were able to book it for one night. I believe you have to book that room either via email or in person. You can only book the dorm rooms through Agoda.com. This may be due to there being only one room of it’s kind. We fell in love with the room and strongly recommend it for couples. At the bar they offer cocktails, beer, tea, and coffee most of the day and evening for purchase. The mocha latte was my favorite and it was perfect every time. Laundry service to wash is per bag. There are plenty of areas and hangers to dry your clothing. They also have a bike rental service. Meals offered throughout the day from 6 CNY to 15 CNY per person. Dinner and lunch were our absolute favorite. The meals are served family style and usually there is more then a few other guests joining you for dinner. It is a great way to meet other travelers. There was always plenty of delicious food. We absolutely loved our stay and would for sure stay again next time we are in town.
