Our family of 4 stayed there for 5 nights. Despite the number of reviews written on how rude, ignorant the hotel staff in China are, we found the staff at Somerset Grand the complete opposite of what was written. The front counter staff may not be the friendiest, but the others were defintely courteous and friendly, especially the door men. Location is what appeals to us. It is a minute walk to the uptrend Huai Hai Road and a couple more minutes to the busy Nanjing Road. The hotel (service apartment) is well equipped. The carpets may be a bit old and worn out, but otherwise it is clean and tidy. It is nestled around many small restaurants, amongst which one must visit is the Bellagio Restuarant which offers deserts, and , many to choose from. The restuarant is just opposite the hotel. For what I paid for the hotel, it is definitely value for money. Like what my caption said, What more can you ask for ? AAAA+ recommendation for this hotel. will definitely use this hotel again, if it is still around. (I heard that they are converting it to a residence apartment soon, What a pity)
