5 reviewsThe Mingdu Gloria Plaza Hotel is located 20-25 minutes from the airport. There isn't much around it except for office buildings, but I did find a convenience store a block from the hotel (near the stoplight). The rooms are spacious and clean, but the mattresses are hard (my two colleagues thought so, too). The breakfast was good, with plenty of options. There is also a nice laundry service, where you can leave your laundry in a bag on the bed before 12 noon and have it delivered back before 6 p.m. My only complaint was that the women working the front desk spoke absolutely no English! When I asked to exchange money (and I even held up a $100 bill), they had no idea what I was requesting. They had to call an English-speaking manager to come to the desk. (He gave me a rate of 6 CNY to the dollar instead of the prevailing rate of 6.77, but I was happy to accept that as there are no ATMs in the hotel.) Similarly, when checking out, it was difficult to explain to the non-English-speaking desk people that I needed a receipt. My room cost 378 CNY per night, approximately $56, which included breakfast.
