We stayed here for one night before going to Dali. It is right in the heart of the old city. The best thing was the staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. They offered us tea when we arrived and chatted about where we were from and our plans in Yunnan. It would be very difficult to find on your own, so I wouldn't recommend to try. We called the hotel from the taxi and they met us at the old city gate, then helped us carry our bags to the hotel. The hotel is very charming and nicely decorated. The room was beautiful and spacious. The one challenge was that it was chilly in the winter. They had electric blankets but the windows didn't have a good seal so the room itself was cold.
