Excellent value for your money. The room was very comfortable and big, excellent shower. But the most important thing is that the owner speaks really good English and is ready to assist you in any way he can: explain how the city works, help you get back to the hotel. In my case, the taxi to the airport that I had booked was late and he helped me arrange things. I really recommend this hotel!

On a quiet Lijiang side street, a very decent guesthouse though even a light breakfast would have been nice. Hosting was welcoming and friendly even if only the Owner spoke good English. But now again, you're in back yard China and I guess 98% of Yunnan tourists are Chinese. Rooms small and functional, good shower power and clean linen. The wall to wall carpets have to be cleaned - preferably taken out; the spots are a bit too much (could have been worth a "3" for that). Good sleep, no noise, small cozy courtyard where we (5-6 rooms) gathered for a tea or drinks in between wedding ceremonies and excursions. Two of us made the 5-10 minutes morning walk to enjoy the excellent breakfast at the nearby Crowne Plaza at almost the price of the room; a good combo! As there are a multitude of guesthouses in town it is a difficult choice. I enjoyed!

My wife and I stayed at TMI in late August/early September of this year.   The location was great (in our opinion) as it was close enough to the action but not enough where there were throngs of people to navigate through or close enough to hear the bass pumping from the nightclubs (who would have thought?)

Alex the owner is a great, laid back guy who speaks very good english and can help plan your itinerary.   His staff are trustworthy, friendly and kind.  They even did our laundry for free and always had a smile for us.   The place itself is beautiful and we often spent mornings on the balcony drinking coffee and eating fruit.   One night we had a great conversation with Alex and he even shared his bottle of wine with us.   

Great time, can't go wrong at this place.  With 3000 places to choose from in Lijiang we were glad to stay here!

Great time at Time Memory Inn

Great hotel for non Chinese speaking tourists

The first room we were put in was outright dumpy; we complained and were moved the second night to a better room but charged more. We were there three nights and housekeeping did little, if anything but deliver new towels. Staff was very nice and helpful, though some (most?) spoke little English. They did do our laundry for free and gave me free beer (but provided no water in the room (only hotel on trip that didn't). Location was good; close to old town but in quite area. Overall ok but a bit pricy for what you get.

Not up to the reviews

Based on positive reviews on Tripadvisor, and the description on Ctrip.com, we booked a "Suite" in this inn for 4 nights. We really wanted to like the place - the people were very friendly, the owner spoke perfect English and was helpful, but in the end we only stayed one night, because the room was small and poor value.

On Ctrip.com the "Suite" was described as being 30-40 square meters. In fact it was only about 20 sqm (including the bathroom - I paced it out), the double-bed was in a corner, meaning that one of us had to climb over the other to get into and out of bed, and though the bathroom had near-new fittings, the shower leaked over the bathroom floor.

For around 300 yuan per night, this was not good value - we found a much nicer, larger room in an inn a few blocks away for 220 yuan per night.
